The District Commandant, Jharkhand Grih Raksha Vahini, Ramgarh has released notification for 284 Home Guard posts — 213 Rural Home Guards across 6 blocks (Ramgarh, Patratu, Gola, Mandu, Chitarpur, Dulmi) and 71 Urban Home Guards (Technical and Non-Technical). Home Guard is a voluntary organization — it is not a salaried government job; members receive a daily duty allowance fixed by the government when deputed for duty. 50% of posts are reserved for women, with 5% of women's quota for divorced/separated/widowed candidates.

Who Can Apply?

Domicile

• Rural Home Guard: Permanent resident of the same block of Ramgarh district where you are applying
• Urban Home Guard: Ordinary resident of the urban area of Ramgarh district
• Online residential certificate issued by competent authority of the State Government is mandatory

Educational Qualification

• Rural Home Guard: Minimum 7th class pass
• Urban Home Guard: Minimum Matriculation (10th class) pass

Technical Proficiency (for Urban Technical posts only)

• Must have technical skill in any field with related work experience
• Recognised technical fields: Doctor, Engineer, Lawyer, Teacher, Nurse, Computer Operator, Typist, Licensed Driver (HMV/LMV), Cook, Carpenter, Cobbler, Washerman, Barber, Electrician, Gardener, Plumber, etc.
• Certificate from competent authority required

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 19 years
• Maximum age: 40 years
• Age reference date: 1 January 2026
• Birth certificate from competent authority is mandatory

Salary

• Home Guard is a voluntary organisation — it is not a regular salaried government job
• Members receive a daily duty allowance fixed by the State Government for the days they are deputed for duty
• Enrolment is for a period of 4 years; re-enrolment is allowed under Cadiqa-6 of Jharkhand Grih Rakshak (Volunteer) Rules, 2014

Physical Test (Rural & Urban Non-Technical)

• 1 Mile Run — Male: within 5 min = 20 marks; 5-6 min = 10 marks; above 6 min = disqualified
• 1 Mile Run — Female: within 8 min = 20 marks; 8-10 min = 10 marks; above 10 min = disqualified
• High Jump — Male: 4 ft to 5+ ft (5 to 10 marks). Female: 3 ft to 4+ ft (5 to 10 marks)
• Long Jump — Male: 12 ft to 16+ ft (5 to 10 marks). Female: 9 ft to 13+ ft (5 to 10 marks)
• Shot Put: Male — 16 lb to minimum 16 ft. Female — 10 lb to minimum 10 ft

Physical Test (Urban Technical)

• 1 Mile Run — Male: within 6 min = 20 marks; 6-8 min = 10 marks; above 8 min = disqualified
• 1 Mile Run — Female: within 8 min = 20 marks; 8-12 min = 10 marks; above 12 min = disqualified

Selection Process

Selection is conducted by the Selection Committee as per Home Department Notification No. 5442 dated 20.10.2014:

1. Physical Test (Sharirik Janch Pariksha): 1 mile run, high jump, long jump and shot put — marks awarded as per the prescribed scale
2. Hindi Writing Ability Test: Qualifying — total 100 marks, pass mark 30. Tested at 7th class level (Rural) and 10th class level (Urban)
3. Technical Proficiency Test: For Urban Technical candidates only — qualifying, total 100 marks, pass mark 30
4. Merit List Preparation: Based on physical test marks plus bonus marks for sports achievements (National 1st = 6, 2nd = 4, 3rd = 2; State 1st = 3, 2nd = 2, 3rd = 1)
5. Government Servants applying as Urban Home Guards (10% reservation): Bonus marks — PG = 10, Graduate = 8, Intermediate = 6, Matric = 4
6. Medical Examination and Police Character Verification
7. Basic Training: At Jharkhand Grih Raksha Vahini Headquarters, Ranchi. After successful completion, formal enrolment as Home Guard with enrolment certificate.

How to Apply

2. Click on Register for new user registration (One Time Registration / OTR).
3. Login with the User ID and password received and complete personal, educational and experience details.
4. Upload self-attested colour passport-size photograph and signature.
5. Apply for the Ramgarh Home Guard recruitment between 7 May 2026 and 4 June 2026.
6. Upload supporting documents: residential certificate, caste certificate, educational certificate, technical qualification certificate (if applicable), work experience certificate, sports certificate (if any).
