ISRO URSC Scientist/Engineer & Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 - 4 Posts

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) through its U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Bengaluru has invited online applications for 4 temporary posts across three categories under Advertisement No. URSC:01:2026 dated 21 March 2026. URSC is the lead centre of ISRO for satellite technology, responsible for the design, development, fabrication, testing, and launch of Indian satellites including landmark missions like Chandrayaan, Mars Orbiter, and Aditya-L1. These posts are temporary but likely to continue indefinitely, and selected candidates will work at the cutting edge of India's space programme. Engineers in industrial production and optical thin film technology, as well as a medical professional, are being recruited.

Who Can Apply?

Post Code 01 - Scientist/Engineer SC (Industrial Production/Management)

  • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech or equivalent in Industrial Production, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Engineering and Management, Production Engineering, or allied branches
  • Minimum marks: 65% aggregate (all semesters) or CGPA 6.84 on a 10-point scale
  • Experience: No experience required (freshers eligible)

Post Code 02 - Scientist/Engineer SD (Thin Films/Optics)

  • Qualification: PhD in Thin Films, Material Science, Applied Optics, or Metallurgy
  • Pre-eligibility (mandatory):
    • (a) M.Sc. in Physics or Material Science, OR M.Tech in Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or Applied Optics
    • AND
    • (b) B.E./B.Tech in Physical Streams, Metallurgical Engineering, or Material Science, OR B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, or Material Science
  • Minimum marks for M.Sc./M.Tech: 60% aggregate or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale
  • Minimum marks for B.Sc: 60% aggregate or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale
  • Minimum marks for B.E./B.Tech: 65% aggregate or CGPA 6.84 on a 10-point scale
  • Area of work: Design and development of optical thin films for space applications ranging from UV to infrared bands

Post Code 03 - Medical Officer SC

  • Qualification: MBBS with minimum 2nd class, recognised and registered with National Medical Commission (previously MCI)
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of internship experience (MBBS with compulsory rotating internship)
  • Foreign degree holders: Must have cleared FMGE conducted by NBEMS and possess FMGE certificate

Age Limit

  • Post Code 01 (Scientist/Engineer SC): Maximum 28 years as on 12 April 2026
  • Post Code 02 (Scientist/Engineer SD): Maximum 35 years as on 12 April 2026
  • Post Code 03 (Medical Officer SC): Maximum 35 years as on 12 April 2026
  • Since all vacancies are unreserved, no age relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates. Only PwBD candidates, departmental candidates, and ex-servicemen get age relaxation as per Government of India orders.

Salary

  • Scientist/Engineer SC (Post Code 01): Pay Level 10 — Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month. Gross salary approximately Rs. 56,100 per month plus admissible allowances
  • Scientist/Engineer SD (Post Code 02): Pay Level 11 — Rs. 67,100 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month. Gross salary approximately Rs. 67,700 per month plus admissible allowances
  • Medical Officer SC (Post Code 03): Pay Level 10 — Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month. Gross salary approximately Rs. 56,100 per month plus admissible allowances and Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) at 20% of basic pay

Selection Process

The selection process varies by post:

Post Code 01 - Scientist/Engineer SC

  1. Written Test: Initial screening based on academic performance and online application data. Only screened-in candidates will be called for the written exam.
  2. Interview: Candidates who qualify the written test will be called for interview.

Post Code 02 - Scientist/Engineer SD

  1. Screening: Applications received through ISRO Live Register Portal will be initially screened based on academic performance.

Post Code 03 - Medical Officer SC

Responsibilities

  • Handle resource management, financial and personnel management functions in the organisation
  • Manage systems engineering projects and oversee production engineering activities
  • Work on design and development of optical thin films for space applications
  • Develop thin film coatings for satellite components ranging from UV to infrared bands
  • Attend to patients in departmental clinics and handle medical and surgical emergencies
  • Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and mandatory medical checkups of employees
  • Provide medical cover during training programmes and manage ambulance operations
  • Prepare health education materials on nutrition, diet, and preventive care for staff and families
