ISRO IPRC Technician B Recruitment 2026: Overview

ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), the liquid-propulsion unit of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at Mahendragiri in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu, has released Advertisement No. IPRC/RMT/2026/01. IPRC assembles and tests the engines and stages of ISRO's launch vehicles, runs high-altitude tests of upper-stage engines and spacecraft thrusters, and produces propellants for ISRO missions. This drive covers Technical Assistants, Technician 'B' tradesmen, a Cook and Firemen — a rare chance for diploma holders, ITI tradesmen and Class 10 pass candidates to join ISRO in a regular government post.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Technical Assistant (Automobile, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication): the senior technical posts in this drive, for candidates with an engineering diploma in the matching branch.
  • Technician 'B' (Turner, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Electrician): trade posts for Class 10 pass candidates holding an ITI certificate (NTC or NAC from NCVT) in that exact trade. One Fitter post is kept for ex-servicemen, and one Machinist post for a person with an orthopaedic disability.
  • Cook 'A': a canteen post for Class 10 pass candidates with five years of cooking experience in an established hotel or canteen.
  • Fireman 'A': a fire-service post for Class 10 pass candidates who meet the physical fitness standards; one post is kept for ex-servicemen.

Post-wise Duties

Technical Assistant

You will support engineers in the assembly, integration and testing of propulsion systems, looking after equipment, vehicles or electronic systems according to your branch.

Technician 'B'

You will do hands-on shop-floor trade work — turning, fitting, welding, machining, air-conditioning maintenance or electrical work — on hardware used in ISRO's engines and test facilities.

Cook 'A'

You will prepare meals in the IPRC canteen, handle kitchen equipment and keep the kitchen clean and safe.

Fireman 'A'

You will guard a site that stores rocket propellants and flammable gases, respond to fire calls and keep fire-fighting equipment ready.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Nature of posts: The posts are temporary but likely to continue indefinitely — the standard wording for regular government posts. Staff come under the National Pension System (NPS).
  • Posting: You will first be posted at IPRC Mahendragiri, but you can be moved to any ISRO or Department of Space centre in India.
  • Fireman quarters: Selected Firemen must stay in IPRC's Essential Staff Quarters.
  • Exact qualification only: Only the exact qualification named in the notice counts — no equivalent courses are accepted, and it must come from a recognised board or university.
  • Cut-off date: Age, qualification and experience are all counted as on the closing date of the online application.
  • Merit: The skill test is only pass/fail; your written test score alone decides the final merit, and academic scores break ties.
  • Government employees: Bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer to the skill test, or you will not be allowed to take it.
  • Travel: No TA is paid for the written test; skill-test candidates get second-class train fare reimbursed.
  • More than one post: Submit a separate application and fee for each post.

Application Submission Notes

Applications are accepted online only through the Careers page of the IPRC website; paper forms, emails and CVs are rejected. You pick your written test city — Tirunelveli or Chennai — in the form, and you cannot change it later. Fireman applicants must upload the Preliminary Medical Examination certificate (Annexure A) from a government medical officer. You do not need to post a printout; for doubts, check the FAQs on the advertisement page or write to career@iprc.gov.in.
