IREL (India) Limited, formerly Indian Rare Earths Limited, is a Mini-Ratna Category-1 Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy. Notification number IREL/OS/AA/2026 dated 24 April 2026 opens 38 apprentice seats at OSCOM Unit. If you have a B.E/B.Tech, Diploma, MBA, M.Sc/B.Sc or ITI certificate and want hands-on training inside a strategic mineral PSU, this is your chance.

Who Can Apply?

  • Graduate Apprentice: B.E or B.Tech in the relevant discipline.
  • Technician Apprentice: Diploma in the relevant engineering branch.
  • Trade Apprentice: M.Sc/B.Sc, MBA, ICWA(Inter) or ICAI(Inter) as listed in the table.
  • ITI Apprentice: Pass certificate in the matching ITI trade.
  • 3-year rule: You are eligible for Graduate or Technician apprenticeship only if you passed your degree or diploma within the last 3 years.
  • Excluded: Distance Learning, Part Time and Correspondence mode qualifications are not accepted.
  • Earlier apprenticeship: If you have already done apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961 in any Govt/PSU/Private organisation, you are NOT eligible.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Maximum age: 25 years
  • As on: last date of application (15 May 2026)
  • SC/ST relaxation: up to 5 years
  • OBC (NCL) relaxation: up to 3 years
  • PwD relaxation: up to 10 years

Stipend

  • Stipend is paid as per the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and Government of India notifications issued from time to time.
  • IREL will not provide any other benefit or financial assistance during training.
  • Successful completion does not guarantee regular employment.

Selection Process

  1. Merit list based on marks scored in the specified educational qualification. Higher marks get higher priority.
  2. Document Verification in the order of merit. You must bring ORIGINAL documents plus self-attested photocopies.
  3. Medical Examination by a Company-authorised Medical Officer. You must be declared Medically Fit.
  4. Police Verification Certificate from your local police is mandatory before joining (IREL is a highly protected area).
  5. Priority order: Land-affected candidates > villages within 7 km of OSCOM > wards of IREL employees > villages within 7-10 km > Odisha domicile > rest of India.

  1. Register on the apprenticeshipindia.org portal for Trade Apprenticeship under Establishment No. E0421210003.
  2. Register on nats.education.gov.in (NATS portal) for Graduate or Technician Apprenticeship under Establishment No. EORGNC000001.
  3. Fill the application form (proforma in the advertisement) on A4 paper, type-written preferred.
  4. Affix a recent passport-size photograph and self-attest all documents.
  5. Super-scribe the envelope with: APPLICATION FOR ENGAGEMENT OF APPRENTICE AGAINST NOTIFICATION NO. IREL/OS/AA/2026 and the discipline applied for.
  6. Send by speed post or courier to: Head of Department, HRM, OSCOM, IREL (India) Limited, Matikhalo, District Ganjam, Odisha - 761045.
  7. Application must reach IREL on or before 15 May 2026. Late applications are rejected without exception.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the structured 1-year apprenticeship training in your assigned trade or department.
  • Follow safety protocols and instructions of supervising officers at the OSCOM unit.
  • Maintain training logbooks and attendance as per Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.
  • Assist in routine technical, laboratory or trade tasks under guidance of permanent staff.
  • Participate in skill-development modules and on-the-job assignments.
  • Submit periodic progress reports to the HRM department.
  • Comply with the Police Verification and Medical Fitness requirements throughout training.
