Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a Fortune Global 500 Maharatna company, has released notification HR/RECTT/01/2026-27(APP) to engage 279 Trade and Technician Apprentices across 11 trades and disciplines at Haldia Refinery. This is a skill-building opportunity under the Apprentices Act — it is training, not a permanent job, and IOCL has no obligation to offer employment after training. Freshers with ITI, Class XII, Diploma or graduation in engineering, science or commerce should apply.

Vacancy Details

Category-wise, the 279 seats break down as UR: 112, EWS: 29, SC: 66, ST: 12, OBC (NCL): 60, with 11 seats reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in identified trades. Seat numbers are tentative and may change as per reservation rules.

Who Can Apply?

Your qualification decides which trade you can apply for. You can apply for only one trade or discipline.

• ITI holders: Matric with ITI in Fitter trade (minimum 2 years, pass class) for the Fitter trade.
• Diploma holders: 3-year Diploma in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering for the Technician Apprentice posts.
• B.Sc holders: B.Sc in Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry for Attendant Operator and Boiler trades.
• Graduates: B.A / B.Sc / B.Com for Secretarial Assistant, and B.Com for Accountant.
• Class XII pass: for the Data Entry Operator trades.

You must have already passed the qualifying exam with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD) as on 30 June 2026. Part-time, correspondence or distance-mode qualifications are not accepted.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 24 years old as on 30 June 2026 (for General / EWS candidates).
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), and 10 years for PwBD candidates as per government rules.

Salary

• You will get a monthly stipend as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961 / Apprentices Rules 1992 and IOCL guidelines.
• No HRA or company accommodation is provided. Apprentices get accident insurance cover, 32 days General Leave per quarter and 12 days Casual Leave per year.

Application Fee

• There is no application fee for this apprenticeship engagement.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test. Selection happens in these steps:

1. Merit List: Candidates are ranked on the percentage of marks (aggregate of all subjects and semesters) in the qualifying exam, in descending order. First-time apprenticeship applicants get preference.
2. Tie-breaker: If two candidates have equal marks, the older candidate (by date of birth) ranks higher.
3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates.
4. Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness: You must be declared medically fit before engagement.

How to Apply

1. Register on the correct portal: NAPS (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) for Trade Apprentice codes 101, 102, 103, 108, 109, 110 and 111, OR NATS (nats.education.gov.in) for Technician Apprentice codes 104, 105, 106 and 107.
2. Search and select the Haldia Refinery unit (NAPS Establishment ID E11191900001 / NATS Establishment ID EWBMEC000002) and apply to the opportunity for your trade.
3. Visit iocl.com, go to 'What's New' and open the Haldia Refinery apprentice advertisement.
4. Fill the mandatory Microsoft / Google Form linked in the advertisement with your registration details.
5. Make sure both Step I (portal application) and Step II (MS/Google Form) are completed before 30 July 2026 (5:00 PM).

• Learn and assist in operations and maintenance activities in the refinery plant area
• Follow all safety rules and wear the safety shoes and helmet provided during training
• Support technicians and operators in day-to-day refinery tasks under supervision
• Record readings, maintain logs and help with routine plant documentation
• Handle data entry, secretarial or accounting work as per the assigned trade
• Complete the full apprenticeship training and appear for the prescribed assessments
