IITM Senior Cyber Security Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) is engaging a Senior Cyber Security Consultant through its Department of Computer Science and Engineering. This is an onsite role in Mhow for a practitioner who can secure IT, operational-technology and cloud environments while guiding less-experienced team members. The work joins hands-on security engineering with governance, so your background should cover both technical controls and recognised compliance frameworks. The position is coordinated by Prof. Chester Rebeiro.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The initial engagement is for one year and may be extended after a performance review. The contract does not create any right to regularisation, permanent employment or a later extension at IITM.
• Onsite assignment: You will work with the onsite team in Mhow and support security across IT, OT, IoT, cloud and hybrid systems rather than operating only as a remote adviser.
• Experience counting: IITM considers relevant experience earned after the minimum qualifying degree. Exceptionally strong profiles may receive relaxation from a minimum requirement at the institute's discretion.
• Shortlisting: IITM may narrow the applicant pool using the level and relevance of experience, qualifications and academic achievements above the minimum. Possessing the minimum qualification alone does not guarantee an interview call.
• Assessment method: The institute retains the right to choose its screening or testing method, reject applications or leave the post unfilled. Only applicants selected for the next stage will receive communication.
• Current IITM project staff: If you already work on an IIT Madras project, apply through the proper channel or bring a No-Objection Certificate when called for the test, record check or interview.
• Provisional eligibility: Any call letter remains subject to later checks of your claims and records. Incorrect information, invalid records or hidden background details can lead to cancellation or termination.
• Communication rule: Use an active email address because IITM will communicate through email. Canvassing or repeated applications for the same advertisement can disqualify you.

• Design and maintain secure network architectures and controls across IT, OT and IoT environments
• Monitor security events through SIEM and SOAR tools and lead incident containment and recovery
• Run vulnerability assessments, coordinate penetration tests and track remediation work
• Manage XDR, EDR, firewalls, WAF, network segmentation and Zero-Trust controls
• Implement cloud-security controls across AWS, Azure and GCP environments
• Integrate threat modelling, secure coding and application reviews into the software development lifecycle
• Maintain compliance records and support audits against ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS and NIST frameworks
• Lead security initiatives, mentor junior team members and explain risk to stakeholders
