Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar), an institute of national importance, has released Advt. No. 01/2026 to engage 6 Part-Time Sports Coaches on a contract basis — one coach each for Athletics, Football, Hockey, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Weightlifting. The contract runs initially up to 30 April 2027, and you will work 6 days a week (Tuesday to Sunday), 4 to 8 hours a day, in morning, evening, or both sessions. This is a good opportunity for experienced coaches, former state/national/international players, and physical education graduates looking for a role at a premier technical institute. Only Indian citizens can apply, and this is a purely temporary arrangement with no claim to permanency on the regular establishment of IIT Ropar.

Who Can Apply?

You need to meet one of these three routes for your chosen sport:

• Qualification: BPE / PGDPEd / MPEd / NIS Diploma from a UGC-recognized university, with 2 years of coaching experience at College/University/State team/National team/Sports Academy level, coaching students above 18 years
• OR Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a UGC-recognized university, with 3 years of coaching experience at the same level
• OR Playing Background: International/National/State-level player with 5 years of coaching experience at the same level

Preference will be given to experienced, qualified, result-oriented coaches.

Age Limit

• You should be between 23 and 50 years old.

Salary

• Selected coaches will get a stipend of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 35,000 per month (negotiable, based on experience).
• You will work 6 days a week (Tuesday to Sunday), 4 to 8 hours a day, in morning, evening, or both sessions.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is through a walk-in interview and a practical sports test:

1. Document Verification: Bring your filled application, bio-data, 4 recent passport-size photographs, and original plus self-attested certificates at the venue.
2. Sports Test: Come in sports attire — you will be tested on your practical coaching and playing skills.
3. Interview: A panel will assess your qualification, experience, and suitability for the coaching role.
