About This Job

IIT Roorkee Postdoctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow for a DRDO-sponsored project in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Led by Prof. Karun Rawat, the project focuses on designing and implementing advanced techniques for non-linear power amplifiers while improving size, weight and power performance. This is an applied radio-frequency research role that connects device behaviour, circuit design, simulation, measurement and sponsor-facing technical work.

The project is organised around the challenge of improving power-amplifier performance without losing sight of practical SWAP constraints. Electromagnetic and circuit simulation provide a way to test ideas before hardware evaluation, while RF measurements show whether the proposed behaviour holds in practice. The advertisement names ADS, CST or HFSS and MATLAB within this technical setting. The important theme is the link between a model, a design decision and defensible measured evidence.

Research output is expected to serve two audiences. IIT Roorkee’s academic setting calls for findings that can support reputed journals and international conferences, while the DRDO sponsorship also needs progress updates, technical reports and clear project records. That balance makes careful documentation part of the research process itself. The host department’s communication-engineering base gives the fellow a setting where RF analysis can be developed alongside the practical needs of a sponsored programme.

Within that setting, the fellow will study non-linear amplifier behaviour, compare advanced techniques and help refine solutions around the project’s SWAP objective. Simulation and measurement are treated as connected parts of the same investigation, rather than separate activities. The official notice also makes institutional compliance part of the assignment, so project work and reporting remain subject to the rules of IIT Roorkee and the host organisation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: The appointment runs for one year or until the sponsored project ends, whichever condition governs the engagement.
  • Appointment type: This is a project-funded post and does not form part of IIT Roorkee’s regular staff cadre.
  • Sponsorship: The work belongs to a DRDO-funded research programme and includes documentation for the sponsoring agency.
  • Travel support: No TA or DA is available for attending the interview.
  • Equal merit preference: The advertisement states that SC and ST candidates receive preference where qualifications and experience are equal.
  • Institute rules: The fellow must follow the research and administrative requirements of the host institute and organisation.

Application Submission Notes

This vacancy uses email submission to Prof. Karun Rawat at karun.rawat@ece.iitr.ac.in; there is no separate online form. The careers page is only an index of project advertisements, so use the direct project PDF for the authoritative notice and the principal investigator’s address for this particular application.

Use a clear email account and contact number that you monitor regularly. The advertisement asks for an application on plain paper, so the material should be easy for the project team to identify and review. Do not treat IIT Roorkee’s general careers page as an application portal for this post.
