IIT Jammu Project Manager Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) is engaging a Project Manager through its Department of Humanities and Social Sciences for a research initiative on the tribal communities of Jammu and Kashmir. The project is building a digital repository of intangible and built indigenous legacies, bringing together ethno-cultural documentation, organised records and heritage material in one research archive. This is a contractual research-management role that connects academic work with administration, finance and field stakeholders rather than a regular institute cadre post. The strongest fit is someone comfortable moving between social-science research, project coordination and institutional reporting, because the role supports the principal investigator while also representing the project before partner groups.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: The initial engagement is for one year and may be extended according to performance and the project's continuing requirement; the notice does not promise automatic renewal.
- Project scope: Your work remains attached to the tribal-heritage repository initiative, so this appointment should not be read as entry into IIT Jammu's permanent administrative establishment.
- Shortlisting: Meeting the essential academic requirement does not guarantee an interview call. IIT Jammu may shortlist applicants on merit and on how closely their background matches the project's needs.
- Interview format: The interview is planned through an online platform. Shortlisted applicants receive the schedule by email, making an accurate email address and phone number important throughout the process.
- Records and authenticity: You are responsible for the accuracy of the information, certificates and photograph supplied with the form. Any mismatch can affect consideration of the application.
- Current employment: If you are already working, be prepared to provide a relieving certificate from your employer after selection before joining the project.
- Stakeholder setting: The assignment involves coordination with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, IIT Jammu administration and community stakeholders, so clear communication and careful handling of culturally sensitive material matter.

The institute will use the contact details entered in your application for shortlisting and interview communication, so check them carefully before final submission.
