CSIR-AMPRI Project Staff Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (CSIR-AMPRI) is hiring Project Associates, a Junior Research Fellow and a Project Research Scientist for research based at its Bhopal laboratory. Advertisement PROJ-06/2026 connects engineering and physical-science candidates with live projects in geopolymer concrete, additive manufacturing, radiation shielding, quantum materials and biosensor development. Each post code belongs to a named project with a defined research goal, so your discipline and hands-on interests matter as much as the broad job title. These are temporary project engagements under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, not regular institute posts.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Associate I — ready-mix geopolymer concrete: civil or mechanical engineering work covering plant operation, mix design, field sampling and concrete testing.
• Project Associate I — paver blocks and kerb stones: engineering development and industrial demonstration of cement-free precast components.
• Project Associate I — additive manufacturing: mechanical, materials, metallurgical, production or chemical engineering research on graphene-reinforced metal components.
• Project Associate I — radiation shielding: chemistry, physics, chemical or polymer engineering work on transparent metal-polymer composite shields.
• Junior Research Fellow — quantum materials: chemistry or physics research using first-principles and density-functional-theory simulations.
• Project Research Scientist I — ovarian-cancer biosensor: chemistry, nanotechnology, biotechnology or materials-science research on non-invasive point-of-care diagnostics.

Post-wise Duties

Geopolymer Concrete Project Associates

You will visit field sites, collect samples and data, prepare specimens, run tests under the relevant Indian Standards, and interpret engineering results. Depending on the project, you may also operate an RMC plant or help demonstrate precast paver and kerb-stone components at field scale.

Additive Manufacturing and Shielding Project Associates

You will conduct materials research and laboratory characterisation. One stream focuses on graphene-reinforced steel and aluminium through metal additive manufacturing; the other covers polymer synthesis, composite development, radiation-attenuation analysis and scientific reporting.

Junior Research Fellow

You will use first-principles DFT simulations to investigate electronic, magnetic and topological behaviour in quantum materials. The work includes computational analysis, interpretation of results and support for research reports.

Project Research Scientist I

You will contribute to biosensor and aptasensor development, including nanoparticle synthesis, analytical characterisation, electrochemistry and diagnostic-device fabrication. Experience with biomaterials, a 3D bioprinter or peer-reviewed scientific writing is especially useful.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: your engagement ends with the assigned sponsored or consultancy project and does not create a claim to a regular CSIR-AMPRI post.
• Funding condition: every advertised position remains subject to availability of funds under its project before results and engagement letters are issued.
• Total project service: combined engagement across CSIR projects and laboratories cannot exceed six years.
• Performance review: work is reviewed periodically; either side may end the engagement under the notice conditions, normally with one month's notice or the stipulated payment in place of notice.
• Research support: eligible project staff may receive institute dispensary access, official-tour TA/DA, accommodation or HRA, leave, and PhD-registration support subject to the stated rules.
• Separate applications: you may apply for more than one post code, but each post code needs its own online application.
