Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) is hiring a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in its Department of Electrical Engineering for an ISRO-sponsored project led by Prof. Tarun Kumar Agarwal. The project, RES-URSC-2022-024, builds computer models of how III-V semiconductor thin films grow in the MOCVD process for solar cell applications. This is a temporary, project-based fellowship, so it suits researchers who want a focused year of work in process simulation.

The work centres on reactor-scale modelling of the MOCVD process using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tool such as ANSYS Fluent, as part of a larger multi-scale modelling framework. If you have already used CFD packages, understand chemical reaction kinetics, and can write and present research clearly, you start with a real advantage.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Funding agency norms: Eligibility for this post follows the funding agency's norms, not the institute's own norms.
• Tenure: The appointment runs for 12 months under the project.
• House rent allowance: The consolidated monthly pay already includes HRA, which is applicable only as per institute norms.
• Outside collaboration: You will work closely with the research team at SCL Mohali to validate the model you develop.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee a call or an offer. IIT Gandhinagar may apply a higher cut-off, and it may choose not to fill the post in this round.
