IIT Delhi Faculty Recruitment 2026 — Rolling Advertisement

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has released Rolling Advertisement No. IITD/2026/PROF-1 dated 6 April 2026 for faculty positions at the level of Associate Professor and Professor. The institute is looking for individuals with an established record of independent, high-quality research and a commitment to teaching across departments like Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering, Design, AI, Public Policy and more.

Who Can Apply?

Associate Professor

• PhD with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree, with specialization in the relevant area
• Minimum 6 years teaching, research or industrial experience
• At least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor in IITs or equivalent institutes
• At least 10 refereed papers (4 in reputed journals, 2 published in the last 3 years)
• Completed 1 sponsored R&D / consulting project as PI or 2 as co-PI

Professor

• PhD with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree
• Minimum 10 years teaching, research or industrial experience
• At least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent
• At least 20 refereed papers (8 in reputed journals, 3 in the last 4 years)
• Should have guided at least 1 PhD student independently or 2 jointly
• Completed 1 sponsored R&D project as PI plus one more as PI or two as co-PI

Department-specific publication, patent and project requirements are listed in Annexure-I of the official notification. Foreign nationals can also apply on contract basis for an initial period of 5 years.

Salary

• Associate Professor: Rs. 1,39,600 – 2,11,300 per month with a minimum pay of Rs. 1,39,600 in Academic Pay Level 13A2
• Professor: Rs. 1,59,100 – 2,20,200 per month with a minimum pay of Rs. 1,59,100 in Academic Pay Level 14A
• Plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) and telephone reimbursement as per Institute rules
• Professional Development Allowance of Rs. 3 lakhs for every 3-year block (Rs. 1 lakh per year)
• Relocation allowance up to Rs. 2,50,000 for candidates joining from abroad and up to Rs. 1,25,000 for those joining from within India
• Chair Professor positions carry a grant of Rs. 5 lakhs per annum for an initial 3 years (extendable up to 5)
• Higher starting salary may be offered to deserving candidates as decided by the Selection Committee

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting based on qualification, experience, research record and publication count as per Annexure-I criteria
2. Personal Interview by the Selection Committee — outstation candidates get to & fro 2-Tier AC Railway fare or economy airfare reimbursement
3. Selection Committee decision is final; mere fulfilment of minimum criteria does not guarantee an interview call

Foreign-based candidates called for personal interview will receive reimbursement up to Rs. 40,000 or actual fare, whichever is less.
