IIT Bhilai Visiting Artist Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) is looking for a Visiting Artist for its Artist in Residency programme, run by the Centre for Studies on Culture, Language and Traditions (CCLT) and funded by NTPC. The call is meant for artists who work in the performing arts or handicrafts of Chhattisgarh. It is not a regular faculty or staff job: you spend a three-month residency on the IIT Bhilai campus at Durg, creating and documenting your art form.

The project is led by Dr Sruthi Vinayan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Liberal Arts. According to the CCLT programme page, the aim is to help preserve the state's traditional art forms and cultural heritage. The selected artist gets a monthly honorarium along with accommodation and a work studio on campus. You do not need a degree — a Class 12 pass is enough, and a state or national award works in your favour.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Who it suits: The CCLT page says artists and arts practitioners based in Chhattisgarh who work on any art form of the state are eligible.
  • Tenure: The residency lasts three months, and the position is available immediately.
  • Joining: You must join right away once you receive the offer.
  • Project rules: Your appointment follows the terms of the institute and the funding agency that apply to this project.
  • Shortlisting: If many people qualify, the selection committee can limit interview calls by looking at qualifications and experience beyond the minimum.
  • Travel costs: No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview.

Application Submission Notes

IIT Bhilai accepts applications only through its Google Form; there is no postal or email route. Make sure the form is complete before you submit — incomplete or late entries are rejected. Only shortlisted artists are called for the interview.
