IISER Tirupati is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate-I under a GAIL (India) Ltd funded project on Organometallic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis and Catalysis. IISER Tirupati JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati is an autonomous Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The Institute is recruiting one Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate-I for a research project led by Dr. Ekambaram Balaraman. This is a great chance to work on industry-relevant chemistry research alongside an active research group, with a clear path to apply for IISER Tirupati's regular PhD program if you qualify.

Who Can Apply?
- Essential qualification: M.Sc in Chemistry or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade as per Institute norms.
- Desirable: Hands-on experience in Organometallic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, or Catalysis. Industry experience is a plus.
- Nationality: You must be an Indian national.
- The qualification must be from a recognized University or Institution.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 30 years as on the closing date of the advertisement (4 May 2026), as per Institute norms.
- Age relaxation is applicable as per Institute / Government of India rules for reserved categories.
Salary
- Category I: Rs. 31,000 per month + 9% HRA if you qualified through CSIR / UGC-NET (including Lectureship / Assistant Professorship), GATE, or any other national-level exam by Central Government Departments.
- Category II: Rs. 25,000 per month + 9% HRA for candidates who do not fall under Category I.
- Initial tenure: 6 months, renewable based on satisfactory performance and project requirements.

Selection Process

- Shortlisting by committee: A Screening Committee shortlists candidates based on qualifications, marks, and relevant research experience. Mere possession of the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview by the Project Leader. Selection is based on interview performance. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
- Document verification: Original certificates and photocopies of age, qualification, and experience proof are verified at the appropriate stage.

Responsibilities
- Carry out experimental work in Organometallic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, and Catalysis under Dr. Ekambaram Balaraman.
- Design and run synthesis reactions for the GAIL-funded research project.
- Maintain detailed lab notebooks and document all experimental procedures and results.
- Operate and maintain chemistry research instruments and follow lab safety protocols.
- Analyze reaction products using NMR, mass spectrometry, and chromatography techniques.
- Prepare progress reports, technical write-ups, and contribute to research publications.
- Support project deliverables to the funding agency (GAIL India Ltd) within agreed timelines.
- Assist senior researchers and PhD scholars on related projects in the chemistry lab.

Minimum Qualification
M.Sc in Chemistry or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks / equivalent grade
Preferred Qualification
Experience in Organometallic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, or Catalysis. Industry experience.
