IISER Tirupati JRF Project Associate ISRO Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati is hiring a Junior Research Fellow or Project Associate-I for an ISRO Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems funded study. IISER Tirupati is an autonomous Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, and this project brings biology and physics together to study how space conditions can affect large biological molecules. The engagement is purely contractual and belongs to one defined research project.

The project is titled Development of bio-molecular films for characterization of UV-induced Macromolecular Damage in space environment and carries project code 30526258. Under Principal Investigator Dr. Prasanna Katti, the work is likely to combine preparation of biological material with controlled testing and molecular analysis. It is a useful opening for a science postgraduate who wants hands-on interdisciplinary work connected to space research.

The notification particularly values practical exposure to PCR, cloning, qRT-PCR and the Drosophila model system. These techniques point to a laboratory role where careful sample handling, repeatable experiments and clear research records will be important. The fellowship title and pay tier depend on whether you meet the stated national-test route, but the project scope remains the same.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: The first offer is for one year and may be renewed if your performance is satisfactory. The position ends with the project.
  • No absorption: Appointment does not create a claim to a regular position at IISER Tirupati or the funding agency.
  • Funding terms: Your appointment follows the conditions set by the funding agency for this project.
  • Completed qualification: The required degree must come from a recognized university or institution and be completed by the closing date. Candidates still waiting for their final qualifying result cannot apply.
  • Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum standard does not guarantee an interview. The screening committee may use stronger qualifications and relevant experience to limit the shortlist when applications are numerous.
  • Interview expenses: IISER Tirupati does not pay TA or DA for attending the interview.
  • Joining: The selected person must be ready to join as soon as the offer is received.
  • PhD route: A person selected for this project may separately apply to IISER Tirupati's regular PhD programme if they meet its admission rules.
  • Conduct: Canvassing or using outside influence leads to disqualification.
