The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati), an autonomous institute of national importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released Advertisement No. 22/2026 for recruitment of faculty positions on a regular (permanent) basis. The institute invites applications from Indian nationals, including PIOs, OCIs, and NRIs, who have excellent academic records and relevant research/teaching experience. Who Can Apply?

For Professor (Pay Level 14A — Rs. 1,59,100/month entry pay):

• Qualification: PhD with a first class in the preceding degree and a very good academic record throughout.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant post-PhD research and teaching experience from India or abroad, of which at least 4 years must be at the level of Associate Professor (Level 13A2) from Institutes of Eminence / Institutes of National Importance like IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, Central Universities, reputed State Universities, or National-level Research Institutes/Laboratories.
• Other: Proven track record of outstanding research ability and proven leadership skills.

For Assistant Professor (Pay Level 12 — Rs. 1,01,500/month entry pay):

• Qualification: PhD with a first class in the preceding degree and a very good academic record.
• Experience: At least 3 years of relevant post-PhD experience in teaching, research, or industry.

• Economics & Statistics: Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Econometrics, Game Theory, Agriculture Economics, Environment & Resource Economics, Probability and Statistics, Biostatistics.

Prior experience in teaching is valued. Applicants must submit a research proposal in the relevant subject detailing objectives, present understanding, gap areas, methodology, and expected outcome along with their CV and publications.

Age Limit

• The age of superannuation for all faculty positions at IISER Tirupati is 65 years.
• No upper age limit is specified for application — eligibility is based on experience requirements.

Salary

• Professor: Academic Pay Level 14A — entry pay Rs. 1,59,100 per month
• Assistant Professor: Academic Pay Level 12 — entry pay Rs. 1,01,500 per month
• Plus House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), Transport Allowance, Children's Education Allowance, and other benefits (Medical, LTC, Telephone/Internet) as per Central Government rules.
• New faculty members also get: Cumulative Professional Development Allowance (CPDA), housing accommodation in campus (subject to availability), reimbursement of travel and relocation expenses (after probation), and a startup grant for laboratory setup including equipment and consumables.
• Pension: Covered under New Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS) of the Government of India.

Selection Process

The selection is based on a merit and interview process:

1. Application Screening: Applications are shortlisted based on qualifications and experience. The institute may restrict the number of candidates called for interview based on merit above the minimum prescribed.
2. Seminar/Presentation: Shortlisted candidates may be required to give a research presentation (online or offline as decided by the institute).
3. Interview: Final selection is through an interview conducted by a Selection Committee. The institute's decision is final and binding.
4. Medical Examination: The appointment of the selected candidate is subject to medical fitness as per institute requirements.
5. Document Verification: All original documents (degrees, certificates, experience, publications) must be submitted at the time of interview.

A waitlist may be maintained for up to one year. If you are working in a government department, public sector undertaking, or government-funded research organisation, you must apply through the proper channel with a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
