Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, released Advertisement No. IISER-K/Admn./NT-02/2026 dated 6 June 2026. The notice covers 8 direct recruitment posts and 1 Deputy Registrar post on deputation under one application window. Vacancy Details

Reservation note: The Deputy Librarian direct post is reserved for eligible PwBD applicants, and the Assistant Registrar direct post is reserved for OBC.

Who Can Apply?

Library Posts

• Librarian: Master's degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation Science with at least 55%, Ph.D. in the library/information field, evidence of ICT-based library services, and 10 years as Deputy Librarian at the required level.
• Deputy Librarian: Master's degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation Science with at least 55%, Ph.D., evidence of innovative library services, and 8 years as Assistant Librarian at the required level.

Engineering Posts

• Superintendent Engineer: First class B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering plus senior engineering service experience in government, PSU, university or institute projects.
• Executive Engineer: First class Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering with 10 years as Assistant Engineer or 5 years as Assistant Executive Engineer in building/project work.
• Assistant Executive Engineer: First class Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering with 5 years relevant Assistant Engineer experience.

Administration and Sports Posts

• Deputy Registrar: Master's degree with at least 55% marks and 5 years administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or equivalent.
• Assistant Registrar: Master's degree with at least 55% and experience in administration, finance, academic, legal, audit, stores, purchase or establishment work.
• Sports Officer: Master's degree in Physical Education and Sports / Sports Science with first class and UGC-approved national test, or a coaching diploma from NIS/equivalent institute, plus sports administration and performance experience.

Age Limit

• 56 years: Librarian and Superintendent Engineer.
• 50 years: Deputy Librarian, Deputy Registrar, Executive Engineer and Deputy Registrar on deputation.
• 40 years: Assistant Registrar, Assistant Executive Engineer and Sports Officer.
• Reference Date: Age, eligibility and experience are counted on the closing date of online application, 6 July 2026.
• Relaxation: Institute employees get no upper age limit if at least one year of service remains. SC/ST/OBC relaxation applies as per Government of India rules only where applicable.

Salary

• Pay Level 14: Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month for Librarian.
• Pay Level 13: Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month for Superintendent Engineer.
• Pay Level 12: Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month for Deputy Librarian and Deputy Registrar.
• Pay Level 11: Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month for Executive Engineer.
• Pay Level 10: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month for Assistant Registrar, Assistant Executive Engineer and Sports Officer.
• Benefits: Posts carry central government allowances and benefits admissible to employees posted in Kolkata, including medical, LTC and NPS coverage as per rules.

Application Fee

• General / OBC / EWS and other non-exempt applicants: Rs. 1,000 per post.
• SC / ST / PwD / Women / Ex-Servicemen: Rs. 50 registration fee only; the Rs. 950 application fee is exempted.

Selection Process

IISER Kolkata will screen applications and can conduct a written test, skill test, interview, personal discussion or other selection process depending on the post and number of applications.

1. Application Screening: The institute checks qualification, age, experience, reservation documents and submitted data.
2. Shortlisting: If applications are high, IISER may shortlist candidates using higher qualification and relevant experience.
3. Written / Skill Test / Interview: The institute may use one or more selection stages, including interview or personal discussion.
4. Sports Fitness Test: Sports Officer applicants must qualify the physical fitness test as per applicable UGC regulations.
5. Document and Medical Verification: Final appointment depends on document verification, character verification and medical fitness.
