The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has released Advertisement No. R(HR)Temp-04(APO-OCCaP)/2026 for the position of Assistant Placement Officer in the Office of Career Counselling and Placement (OCCaP). This is a purely contract-based engagement for one year, renewable annually up to a maximum of five years based on performance and Institute requirements. Experienced professionals from reputed Engineering, Management, or Science colleges and universities can apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a Master's Degree in any discipline.
• Experience: At least 5 years of prior experience in placement-related activities at a reputed Engineering, Management, or Science College/Institute/University.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible.
• Foreign Degrees: Qualifications from foreign universities will not be accepted.

Desirable Qualities

• You should be energetic, proactive, and a good communicator.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for document preparation, data analysis, and networking.
• Experience in organising national and international scientific meetings, and advising graduate or undergraduate students, will be an added advantage.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 40 years (as on the last date of receipt of application, i.e. 21 May 2026).
• No minimum age is specified.

Salary

• Monthly pay: Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 65,000 per month plus HRA.
• An annual increment of up to 10% is permissible at the time of contract extension, with a maximum ceiling of Rs. 65,000 per month, subject to committee recommendation and approval by the Competent Authority.
• No PF, Pension, Gratuity, Medical Allowance, Seniority or Promotion benefits will be admissible as this is a contract appointment.
• No accommodation will be provided on the Institute campus.

Selection Process

The selection is based on:

1. Written Examination, Interview, or Both: IISc reserves the right to choose any or both modes of selection.
2. Document Verification: Antecedents and submitted documents will be verified.
3. Medical Fitness: The engagement is subject to medical fitness.

If required, interviews may be conducted in electronic mode (Zoom or Microsoft Teams) or in-person. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, and candidates must appear at their own cost.
