Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), a deemed-to-be university, has issued Advertisement No. 03/2026(C) for Assistant Professor posts on contract basis. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Qualification: Master's degree with at least 55% marks in Journalism, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Management, Public Relations, Digital Media, Public Health, Social Sciences, Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Advertising, Strategic Communication or other relevant/allied subjects.
• NET Requirement: You must have cleared UGC NET/CSIR NET or a similar UGC-accredited test such as SLET/SET.
• Ph.D. Exemption: Candidates with a Ph.D. as per UGC rules can be exempted from NET/SLET/SET where applicable.
• Foreign Ph.D. Route: Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 by QS, THE or ARWU is also accepted as per the notice.

Experience and Specialisation

• Experience: Minimum 3 years teaching or industry experience in the relevant field.
• Relevant Areas: Media business, strategic communication, digital media, campaign analytics, media technologies, journalism, public policy, health communication, advertising, PR, radio, TV and corporate communication.
• Software Skills: For some programmes, knowledge of tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects and Premiere Pro is useful.

Age Limit

• Preferred age is below 55 years on the last date of receipt of application.
• The notification does not list separate category-wise age relaxation for this contract engagement.

Salary

• Selected Assistant Professors will receive a consolidated salary of Rs. 57,700 per month.
• The engagement is for 2 semesters and can be extended up to a maximum of 2 years from initial joining based on performance.
• This is a contract post and does not give any right to regular appointment.

Selection Process

IIMC will shortlist candidates using the academic score and other eligibility details. Final selection is based only on performance in the interview.
