IIM Ahmedabad Research Associate (Post-Doctoral) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad), one of India's top-ranked management institutes, is looking to fill a Research Associate (Post-Doctoral) position at its Brij Disa Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The selected candidate will work on the research project "Decision-Making in Stochastic Electricity Markets" under the guidance of Prof. Rajni Kant Bansal. This is an excellent opportunity for doctoral-level researchers with a strong background in mathematical optimization and programming.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a PhD in Operations Research, Management Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Thesis Pending: If you have recently submitted your thesis (currently under review) or are close to finishing your PhD, you can still apply. However, if selected, you must submit your PhD degree certificate within 6 months of joining.
• Technical Skills (Must Have): Strong knowledge of probability theory, statistics, linear programming, and linear algebra. You should be proficient in Python and have good working knowledge of C#.
• Optimization Tools: Hands-on experience with mathematical optimization tools like Pyomo, JuMP, and commercial solvers such as Gurobi, MOSEK, or CPLEX.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with stochastic optimization (two-stage or multi-stage models)
• Experience with risk-aware optimization methods (CVaR, chance constraints)
• Background in large-scale optimization and decomposition techniques

Salary

• Compensation will be commensurate with qualification and experience and as per IIM Ahmedabad guidelines.
• Based on publicly available data, Research Associates at IIM Ahmedabad typically earn in the range of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,00,000 per month depending on experience and qualifications.
