About This Job

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) has invited applications for 1 Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) post on a regular basis through direct recruitment or deputation. This is a permanent, full-time role at India's first and one of the most prestigious IIMs. The pay is at Level-11 (Rs. 67,700-2,08,700) under the 7th CPC, and the last date to apply is 9th April 2026.

IIM Calcutta Senior Administrative Officer Recruitment 2026 — 1 Post

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, established in 1961 in Joka, Kolkata, is India's first IIM and the only Indian institution with the Triple Crown accreditation (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS). The institute is now looking for an experienced administrative professional to join its team as Senior Administrative Officer (Regular). Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • Post Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized University/Institute with 55% marks, OR
  • Engineering Degree from a recognized University/Institute with 55% marks

Experience Required

  • 15 years of experience in General Administration, HR, or Purchase under Central/State Government, Autonomous or Statutory organization, PSU, University, Research/Educational Institution recognized by Government of India, or a reputed private organization
  • Of these, at least 5 years must be as Administrative Officer or equivalent at Level-10 (pre-revised PB-3 with GP Rs. 5,400) or equivalent pay

Who Should Apply Through Proper Channel?

  • If you are currently working in a Government, Semi-Government, Public Sector Undertaking, or Autonomous Body, you must apply through proper channel
  • You also need a certificate from your employer that no vigilance or disciplinary case is pending or being considered against you

Age Limit

  • Age: Preferably below 40 years

Salary

  • Pay Level-11 under 7th CPC: Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700 per month
  • Pre-revised: PB-3 with Grade Pay Rs. 6,600
  • Total minimum monthly salary (approx.): Rs. 1,18,000/- including DA, HRA, and Transport Allowance
  • Additional benefits: LTC, mobile reimbursement, and other allowances as per Institute rules

Medical Benefits

  • OPD (domiciliary treatment): Up to Rs. 32,500/- per year for self and dependent family members
  • Mediclaim Insurance: Up to Rs. 4 Lacs per year for hospitalization for self and dependents

Responsibilities

  • Handle Programme Office activities including student registration, admissions, class schedule preparation, examination scheduling, grading of results, and convocation coordination
  • Manage General Administration functions such as Estate and Facility Management, hostel administration, and transport operations
  • Oversee Purchase and Stores departments including tendering processes, compliance with General and Financial Rules of Government of India, and handling of Central Public Procurement Portal and GeM Portal
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures covering talent acquisition, talent management, competency mapping, and organizational development
  • Coordinate with faculty and students for smooth academic operations across all programmes
  • Prepare training and development plans for non-teaching staff as per Institute requirements
  • Assist the Director and senior management in day-to-day administrative functioning of the Institute
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Competent Authority from time to time

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Post Graduate in any discipline or Engineering Degree from a recognized University/Institute with 55% marks

Preferred Qualification

Experience in administration of educational institutions of national importance
