IIIT Sri City Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sri City, Chittoor (IIIT Sri City) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a disaster-response research project in Andhra Pradesh. The project brings together mobile Internet of Things (IoT) networks, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and weighted federated learning to support communication where normal infrastructure has been damaged or is unavailable. Backed by the Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation (TiHAN), the work focuses on drone-based communication and surveillance during disasters.

The project combines multi-drone simulation, autonomous navigation, sensor fusion and collaborative learning. Its federated-learning approach lets participating systems learn together without sharing raw data, while uncertainty-aware sensor fusion supports the use of information from different sensors. You would join a temporary project team at an institute whose research connects information technology with practical applications for industry and society.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The expected project duration is around six months. Your association with the institute ends automatically when the project closes, so this opportunity depends on the life of the project.
• Immediate joining: If selected, you must be able to report to the institute immediately. Consider that expectation alongside any commitments you already have before accepting the position.
• Completion matters: Leaving before project completion is strongly discouraged. The institute will issue an experience letter only when you complete the project, so an early departure affects that record of your work.
• Notice period: Either you or the principal investigator can end the association by giving one month of written notice. This applies to the project engagement between you and the investigator.
• Progress review: Your progress will be monitored throughout the project. Unsatisfactory performance can lead to the institute asking you to leave.
• PhD opportunity: You may apply separately for the regular PhD programme at IIIT Sri City. The project appointment does not replace the institute’s PhD admission requirements or admission process.
• Exceptional cases: The institute reserves discretion to consider exceptional candidates, including without an application, and to relax qualification or experience conditions. This is an institutional discretion rather than an automatic concession.
• Authenticity: You are responsible for the correctness of your information, photographs and supporting records. Make sure the details you provide accurately represent your background.
