About This Job

Apply for the College Counsellor vacancy in IHE Delhi. Master's degree, counselling certification and 3-5 years' experience needed. Last date: 7 Sep 2026.

IHE College Counsellor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Institute of Home Economics (IHE), University of Delhi is engaging a College Counsellor to support students with emotional, personal, academic and adjustment-related concerns. This is a temporary, part-time engagement based at the Hauz Khas campus, and it suits a counselling professional who understands how college life, family expectations and academic pressure can affect young adults. The role combines one-to-one support with campus-level mental-health awareness, so the work goes beyond scheduled counselling sessions.

You will be part of a college environment where privacy and trust matter. The counsellor is expected to help students discuss difficult issues without judgement, recognise when a concern needs specialist care and work with college authorities without disclosing private counselling information unnecessarily. Experience with college students is especially useful because many cases may involve transition, relationships, examination pressure or adjustment to a new social setting.

The campus also expects the counsellor to contribute to group sessions and mental-health awareness programmes. That calls for a balance between approachable communication and sound professional practice: students should know where to seek help, while individual concerns remain private. You may need to shape sessions for different student groups and recognise when general awareness should lead to personal support or an outside referral.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Work schedule: The counsellor must be available for at least three working days each week; this is a part-time engagement rather than a daily full-time campus post.
  • Temporary arrangement: The engagement is temporary and does not create a claim to a regular University of Delhi position.
  • Confidentiality: Student counselling records must be kept private and handled with a professional, non-judgmental approach.
  • Referral responsibility: Cases that need specialised intervention should be referred to an appropriate professional or service instead of being handled beyond the counsellor's scope.
  • Campus coordination: You will work with the college authorities on student support and awareness activity while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Communication: The college will contact only shortlisted applicants, so you should make sure the contact details in your CV are current and monitored.
