ICMR-NIRDH Statistics Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICMR-National Institute for Research in Digital Health (ICMR-NIRDH) is hiring a Senior Research Officer (Statistics) for its HIV Surveillance and Epidemiology project in New Delhi. This is a project-linked contractual role for an experienced statistician who can connect public-health questions with rigorous analysis, disease modelling and surveillance data. The work supports national HIV surveillance, so your statistical outputs must be clear enough for researchers, programme teams and public-health decision makers to use. The role suits someone who is comfortable moving between data management, analytical programming, interpretation and technical reporting.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The engagement is temporary and co-terminus with the project. An extension is not automatic and depends on project needs, funding, your performance and completion of planned field visits.
• No claim to regular service: This contract does not create a right to permanent employment, absorption or continuation in ICMR, its institutes, the funding agency or another government project.
• Current government staff: People already holding regular service under a Central or State Government body, autonomous organisation, department or PSU cannot apply for this project position.
• Experience evidence: Only experience gained after the minimum essential qualification is counted. Your certificate needs to identify the post, work area, period and salary; offer letters, joining letters, salary slips and emails are not accepted as substitutes.
• Mobility: The normal workplace is ICMR-NIRDH in New Delhi, but research needs may take you to study sites elsewhere. You can be posted to another project site and may need to serve in any part of India.
• Confidentiality: The selected officer must sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement and follow the data-handling guidance of ICMR and the national HIV programme.
• Benefits: Leave follows the ICMR policy for project staff. Provident Fund, Leave Travel Concession, medical claim and City Compensatory Allowance are not part of this engagement.
• Contract control: ICMR-NIRDH may end the engagement during the agreed or extended period. Incomplete or false information can also disqualify you at any stage.

• Analyse HIV surveillance and public-health datasets using suitable statistical methods
• Build and review disease models for epidemiology and programme planning
• Manage clean, reproducible datasets and document each analytical step
• Prepare scientific papers, systematic reviews, technical reports and presentations
• Use R and other statistical tools to create tables, models and data visualisations
• Work with ICMR, NACO and project teams during analysis and field activities
• Protect confidential health data and follow approved research protocols
