ICF Retired Technician Recruitment 2026: Overview

Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, under the Ministry of Railways, is re-engaging retired Railway employees as Technician Gr I MDM RR in the Transport trade. This is a fixed re-engagement arrangement for experienced former technical workshop staff, not an apprenticeship or a direct opening for new technical graduates. Preference goes to suitable retirees from the same pay level before volunteers from a higher eligible level are considered.

The notice is designed to bring proven workshop knowledge back into ICF while the Railway Board re-engagement scheme remains active. Your earlier cadre, retirement details, conduct record and medical fitness will all be checked. You should apply only if your Railway service history matches the identified Technician and Transport cadre conditions.

A committee will judge your suitability, competence and integrity for the assignment. ICF will communicate with shortlisted applicants by SMS, so the mobile number and email entered in the form should remain active throughout the process. Original certificates must be available when ICF calls you for verification.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed engagement: the assignment runs under the Railway Board's retired-staff re-engagement scheme and may end earlier if the scheme or administrative need changes.
• Extension: satisfactory work may support a further extension, subject to the scheme, the retirement-age ceiling and ICF approval.
• Conduct record: you must be free from pending disciplinary, appeal, rules or vigilance cases and must pass the prescribed medical-fitness check for the category.
• Scheme exclusion: employees covered under the Safety Related Retirement Scheme or LARSGESS cannot use this re-engagement route.
• Work powers: re-engaged staff do not receive financial or disciplinary powers and cannot issue safety certificates, though they may give recommendations to serving staff or officers.
• Termination: ICF can discharge re-engaged staff for unsatisfactory work, conduct concerns or administrative reasons.
• Leave: paid leave accrues monthly, cannot be carried beyond the calendar year and is not paid out when the engagement ends.
