Who Can Apply?

Para Pump Operator:

• You need Matriculation (10th pass) with an ITI certificate in the Electrician, Wireman, Diesel Mechanic, Pump Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, or Pump Operator-cum-Mechanic trade.
• 10th pass with a certificate in the above trades under the government's Skill Development Scheme is also accepted.

Para Fitter:

• You need Matriculation (10th pass) with an ITI certificate in the Fitter or Plumber trade, or an equivalent Skill Development Scheme certificate.

Para Multipurpose Worker:

• You need to have passed Middle (8th) standard or an equivalent examination recognized by the state or central government.

Common Requirements (all posts):

• You should hold a Bonafide Himachali certificate.
• You need relevant field experience — with IPH/HPPWD/CPWD/PSUs or an authorized outsourcing agency working in a Jal Shakti Vibhag office — supported by an experience certificate.

If you already work as an outsourced Pump Operator, Fitter, or Multipurpose Worker with IPH, HPPWD, CPWD, or a PSU in Himachal Pradesh, this experience counts directly toward your merit score.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 45 years old to apply for any of these posts.

Salary

• Para Pump Operator and Para Fitter get a fixed honorarium of Rs. 7,100 per month.
• Para Multipurpose Worker gets a fixed honorarium of Rs. 6,000 per month.
• This is a consolidated honorarium — there is no separate pay scale, DA, or HRA.
• Your working hours will be 6 hours per day.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

HP Jal Shakti Vibhag selects candidates through a 10-mark merit system, followed by a skill and physical test:

1. Matriculation/Middle Result Marks: Up to 5 marks (Pump Operator/Fitter) or 6 marks (Multipurpose Worker), based on your percentage of marks.
2. BPL Family Marks: 1 mark if your family holds a valid BPL certificate (not applicable for Multipurpose Worker).
3. Experience Marks: Up to 2 marks, at 0.5 marks for every six months of relevant experience.
4. Skill Test and Physical Test: 2 marks for Pump Operator and Fitter (skill + physical test); 2 marks for Multipurpose Worker (physical test only).

The skill test checks practical knowledge — Pump Operators are tested on pump repair, leak detection, and motor fault-finding, while Fitters are tested on pipe repair, fitting tools, and handling water supply complaints. The physical test requires you to be able to carry tools and pipes in hilly terrain, with no physical disabilities and no colour blindness.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the skill test or physical test.

Service Conditions

• You will submit a quarterly self-reporting format to the Junior Engineer about your work.
• At the end of each financial year, a consolidated report on your work and conduct is sent to the Superintending Engineer for record.
• If your performance is unsatisfactory, your engagement can be terminated only after you are given at least 3 notices on a specific charge, with a written reason for the termination.
