ICFRE-Himalayan Forest Research Institute (HFRI), Shimla has issued a notice dated 19 June 2026 for 2 temporary Project Assistant posts. The posts are under the project Assessment of demand and supply of medicinal plants and their raw material at national level including global perspective. This is a temporary project appointment, and it will not become a regular HFRI post.

The project period is up to December 2026 or project completion, whichever applies. The initial appointment will be for six months or up to the project period. The work includes field visits for data collection from different districts of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, so you should be ready for outdoor survey work in mountainous regions.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Essential qualification: You need B.Sc. Forestry or B.Sc. Medical.

Preferred Experience

• Survey experience: Experience in data collection and surveys in mountainous regions is preferred.
• Field work: The notice gives preference to applicants with experience relevant to field visits in J&K, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh.
• Computer skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar computer applications may be an added benefit.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 30 years for Project Assistant.
• Age reference date: Age will be counted as on the interview date, 8 July 2026.
• Age relaxation: SC, ST, OBC, and women candidates get relaxation of 5 years as per approved rules.

Salary

• Fixed monthly salary: Rs. 22,000 per month.
