Selected candidates will be posted across HAL's divisions at Bengaluru and Tumakuru (Karnataka), Hyderabad (Telangana), Nasik (Maharashtra), Koraput (Odisha), Barrackpore (West Bengal), and Lucknow, Kanpur and Korwa (Uttar Pradesh). Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: A Regular/Full-Time Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology (10+2+4, or 10+3+3 for lateral entry) in the notified discipline — Aeronautical/Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science/IT, Metallurgy, Production, or Civil.
  • Minimum Marks: 70% aggregate for UR/OBC(NCL)/EWS candidates, and 60% aggregate for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, across all semesters/years.
  • Final-Year Students: You can also apply if you meet the aggregate marks criteria up to your last completed semester, but you must secure the prescribed marks in your final degree by the time of interview.
  • Not Eligible: Part-Time, Correspondence, E-learning, or Distance Education degree holders cannot apply.
  • Nationality: Only Indian Nationals are eligible.
  • Note: You can apply for only ONE post. Applying for more than one post (e.g., both MT-Mechanical and DT-Mechanical) leads to rejection of your candidature and forfeiture of the fee paid.

Age Limit

  • Upper age limit should not be above 28 years as on 14 August 2026 for UR and EWS category candidates.
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years, and PwBD candidates get 10 years over and above the applicable category relaxation.
  • Candidates domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1989 get 5 years relaxation. Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers with at least 5 years of military service also get up to 5 years relaxation.
  • After all relaxations, age should not exceed 56 years for PwBD candidates and 55 years for others, as per the notification.

Salary

  • During the 52-week training period, you get a stipend comprising Basic Pay of Rs. 50,000 per month, plus Variable Dearness Allowance and Canteen Allowance. Bachelor Accommodation is also provided during training.
  • On successfully completing training, you are absorbed as an Engineer in Grade-II Scale of Pay of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,60,000 per month.
  • After absorption, you also get House Rent Allowance/Company Accommodation, Performance Related Pay, Medical Facilities, Provident Fund, Gratuity, and Superannuation Benefits as per HAL's rules.

Application Fee

  • UR / OBC(NCL) / EWS candidates: Rs. 500 (inclusive of GST)
  • SC / ST / PwBD / Internal candidates: No fee
  • Payment mode: Online through SBIePay (Credit Card, Internet Banking, or UPI). Convenience fee and taxes, if any, are borne by the candidate.
  • The application fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Online Computer Based Selection Test: Held across India at your choice of test centre. The test runs for 2 hours 30 minutes and has 160 MCQs in total — 20 questions on General Awareness, 40 on English & Reasoning, and 100 on your concerned discipline. You can choose to take the test in Hindi or English.
  2. Personal Interview at Bengaluru: Candidates are shortlisted for interview in the ratio of 1:5 per discipline and category, based on merit in the Online Test.
  3. Pre-Employment Medical Examination: Provisionally selected candidates must clear HAL's prescribed medical standards before joining.
  4. Document Verification: Includes verification of Caste/Income & Asset/Disability certificates for reserved category candidates.

You need to score at least 50% marks each in the Online Test and Interview to qualify. The final merit list is prepared with 85% weightage for the Online Test and 15% for the Interview.
