GMCH Project Research Scientist Recruitment 2026: Overview

Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Guwahati is hiring project staff for its Department of Microbiology under the research project "Establishing a One Health Sentinel Surveillance System in High Human-Animal Interaction Settings among Selected Zoos in India". The project tracks infections that can pass between animals and people in places like zoos, where keepers, visitors and animals are in close contact. Both posts are purely temporary and end when the project ends. Posts and Disciplines

• Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical): the senior scientific post on the project, meant for postgraduates in Microbiology or Biotechnology; a PhD, molecular and immunological R&D experience and indexed research publications all count in your favour.
• Project Technical Support III: the laboratory support post, open to Microbiology or Biotechnology graduates with lab experience or to postgraduates in these subjects; a postgraduate degree and computer knowledge are preferred.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The posts are co-terminus with the project and are filled purely on a temporary basis.
• Already on a project? If you are currently working on another project or DHR scheme, you must bring a No Objection Certificate from your competent authority, PI or organisation.
• PhD counts as experience: For the scientist post, a PhD in a relevant subject is treated as equal to three years of experience.
• Essential qualification is strict: Candidates who do not meet the essential qualification should not apply.
• Age relaxation: Relaxation in the upper age limit follows Government rules.
• No travel allowance: No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview.
