Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) is hiring a Research Assistant for the Compendium of Tribal Statistics Project associated with the Tribal Research & Training Institute, Maharashtra State, Pune. The project brings together information on Maharashtra’s tribal communities in a central repository, covering population, social and economic conditions, and health.

The planned outputs include a Tribal Data Compendium, a monitoring and indicator framework, and a conceptual framework for a future dashboard. • Project engagement: The notice describes this as a temporary appointment for 4 months. You should assess it as a limited project assignment.

• Find secondary data in government reports, PDFs, statistical tables, spreadsheets, databases and websites.
• Extract relevant data and clean, code and standardise it.
• Organise records by district and indicator.
• Cross-check data against different sources and keep a source repository.
• Help the Research Associate and Principal Investigator prepare tables, charts and the report.
• Keep organised records of datasets and their metadata.
