GBU Project Scientist I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU) in Gandhinagar is hiring a Project Scientist I, also called Research Associate-I (RA-I), for a research project funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. The project is led by Dr. Nitin Trivedi, Assistant Professor at GBU, who acts as Principal Investigator.

The project works on Kappaphycus, a farmed red seaweed. It aims to breed better cultivars using omics tools, make the crop more climate-resilient, and add value to the harvested biomass for economic development. The post is purely temporary and ends with the project.

If you hold a doctorate in science or a master's degree in engineering or technology, you can apply. Candidates who have worked on seaweed biomass processing, algal biorefinery or biomass processing reactors will stand out.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The appointment starts for one year and can be extended to the next year if your performance is satisfactory. The full project runs for two years.
• Project-linked post: This is a temporary position that ends together with the DBT project.
• Fellowship norms: The fellowship and HRA follow DBT norms.
• Age relaxation: Relaxation in the upper age limit is given as per Government of India norms.
