The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), which runs under the Ministry of Defence, is engaging a Medical Officer on contract for its polyclinic at Karwar in Karnataka, through Station HQ (ECHS Cell) at the INS Kadamba naval base. An ECHS polyclinic looks after ex-servicemen and their dependants, so the work sits inside a defence medical setup rather than a civil hospital, with a steady patient load drawn from the veteran community around the station. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Length of engagement: The contract runs for one year if you are an ex-serviceman and eleven months if you are a civilian, renewable for a further year or eleven months until you reach the maximum age, subject to your performance and the other conditions of the scheme.
• Reservation and preference: The post carries 60% reservation for ex-servicemen, and the notice records that preference will be given to ex-servicemen.
• Unpaid training before joining: The selected candidate goes through seven days of On Job Training before the joining date, and this OJT period is unpaid.
• No travel money: No TA or DA is admissible for attending the interview, so you travel to Karwar at your own cost.
