The Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare (DSYW), Government of Assam, is looking for experienced Head Coaches in Boxing and Weightlifting to train athletes at the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) located at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex in Guwahati. These are contractual positions under the Khelo India scheme. No written exam is required — selection will be based on screening, skill test, and interview. Who Can Apply?

You need to meet any one of these qualification criteria, along with a minimum of 10 years of coaching experience:

Option 1 - Coaching Diploma Route:

• Qualification: Diploma in Coaching from SAI/NSNIS or any other recognized Indian or foreign university
• International Representation: You must have represented India in Olympics, World Cup, or World Championship
• Federation Certificate: Certificate course from a concerned National or International Federation is required
• Computer Knowledge: Working knowledge of computers is essential

Option 2 - National Award Route:

• Dronacharya Award, Arjuna Award, or Dhyan Chand Award recipients with 10 years of coaching experience

Option 3 - Medal Production Route:

• Coaches who have produced medallists in International Competitions with 10 years of coaching experience

Government Employees:

• Central Government, State Government, and PSU employees may apply on deputation. DoPT recruitment rules will apply for such postings.

Salary

• Selected Head Coaches will receive a monthly salary of Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 1,50,000 (Grade I).
• This is a contractual position, so standard government allowances may not apply.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Screening and Shortlisting: Applications will be screened to check eligibility and qualifications.
2. Skill Test: A practical skill test may be conducted wherever applicable for the discipline.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
4. Final Selection: The Director (Sports) will make the final selection decision.

• Train and prepare athletes in the assigned sport discipline (Boxing or Weightlifting) for national and international competitions
• Prepare periodised training plans, workout schedules, and competition strategies for athletes at KISCE Assam
• Monitor athlete performance, fitness levels, and progress through regular assessments and testing
• Work closely with sports scientists, physiotherapists, and nutritionists to support holistic athlete development
• Assist in talent identification and selection of athletes for the centre of excellence programme
• Maintain training records, athlete reports, and submit periodic updates to the Director of Sports
• Follow all guidelines and protocols set by Sports Authority of India and the Khelo India programme
