If you have an MD/MS/DNB degree (for Senior Resident) or an MBBS degree (for Tutor), you can apply through a walk-in interview. Pre-registration via Google Form is compulsory, and the interview schedule will be notified separately on dmet.odisha.gov.in. The engagement is for one year, extendable up to three years.

Directorate of Medical Education and Training, Odisha (DMET Odisha) Senior Resident & Tutor Recruitment 2026

DMET Odisha has released a notification (Ref No. MET-II-REC-01/2026-16371 dated 10.07.2026) for filling up posts of Senior Residents and Tutors in different Government Medical Colleges of the state on a contractual/deputation basis. These are non-practicing posts — private practice by a selected candidate leads to immediate termination of service. The vacancy count is provisional and subject to change as on the date of the walk-in interview; any vacancies that arise after counselling will be filled through a fresh advertisement. Reservation will be applied vacancy-wise as per Government of Odisha guidelines. This is a good opportunity for MBBS and postgraduate doctors looking to gain teaching and clinical experience in a government medical college while earning a steady income.

Who Can Apply?

For Senior Resident:

  • You must be an Indian citizen with an MD/MS/DNB or an equivalent postgraduate degree in the discipline you are applying for, recognized under the NMC Medical Institutions (Qualification of Faculty) Regulations, 2025 or OMES Rules, 2021.
  • Your qualification must have been obtained on or before the date of counselling/walk-in interview.
  • You must have a valid, up-to-date permanent medical registration at a Central/State Medical Council, including registration of any additional qualification, on the date of the walk-in interview.
  • You are not eligible if you are currently serving or have completed a tenure as Senior Resident/Tutor in any Odisha government medical college, or if your service was earlier terminated for any reason.
  • If you have resigned from a Junior Resident/Tutor/Senior Resident post earlier, your resignation must have been accepted by the authority before the date of issue of this advertisement, otherwise your candidature will not be accepted.

For Tutor:

  • You must be an Indian citizen with an MBBS degree recognized by NMC/MCI and a completed one-year compulsory rotating internship, obtained on or before the date of the walk-in interview.
  • You must have a valid, up-to-date permanent medical registration at a Central/State Medical Council on the date of the walk-in interview.
  • Preference: For pre-clinical/para-clinical departments (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, FMT, Pathology, Microbiology, Community Medicine), candidates with a postgraduate degree in the discipline get first preference. MBBS-only candidates are considered only if no MD/MS/DNB candidate is available in that discipline.
  • If sufficient MBBS candidates are not available for pre-clinical/para-clinical Tutor posts, candidates with an M.Sc in Medical Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or Microbiology can also be considered, though MBBS candidates are always preferred over M.Sc candidates.
  • MBBS candidates can apply for Tutor posts in more than one discipline, using a separate application form and separate fee for each discipline.
  • You are not eligible if you are currently serving or have completed a tenure as Tutor in any Odisha government medical college, or if your service was earlier terminated for any reason.

Age Limit

  • For Senior Resident, you must be below 45 years as on the date of joining (up to 50 years for Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine and Community Medicine).
  • For Tutor, you must be below 45 years as on the date of joining.
  • Your date of birth as entered in your High School Certificate (or equivalent) will be the only one accepted.

Salary

  • In-service candidates selected as Senior Resident/Tutor will continue to draw their usual salary.
  • Direct candidates will be paid a consolidated amount as notified by the Government from time to time, plus any additional incentive declared for these posts.

Application Fee

  • All Candidates: Rs. 500 (non-refundable)
  • Payment mode: Online via SBI Collect (Odisha/Govt Department/DMET Odisha, Convener Selection Committee/Recruitment fee)
  • MBBS candidates applying for Tutor in more than one discipline must pay a separate fee for each discipline.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done purely on academic merit through a walk-in interview, as per Health & FW Department Resolution No.18582 dated 13/08/2020:

  1. Google Form Pre-Registration — compulsory to participate in the walk-in interview.
  2. Merit List based on career marks: 20% weightage to HSC/Matriculation, 20% weightage to Intermediate Science, and 60% weightage to MBBS/M.Sc marks. One mark is deducted from your total for each extra attempt taken to pass any of these exams.
  3. Foreign Medical Graduates (FMG): Your NBE-conducted screening test marks are used for merit calculation; if you don't submit a mark sheet, your marks are taken as 50%.
  4. Document Verification in person before the Convener on the walk-in interview day. Physical presence is compulsory — no authorization is entertained.
  5. Counselling for choice of institution/subject based on merit rank. In case of a tie, the candidate with higher MBBS/M.Sc marks ranks higher; if still tied, the elder candidate ranks higher.

After document verification, a provisional merit list is published for grievances, followed by a final merit list valid for one year or until the next advertisement, whichever is earlier. If a selected candidate fails to join in time, the next candidate on the panel gets a chance.

How to Apply

  1. Fill up the Google Form pre-registration link mentioned in the tentative schedule on dmet.odisha.gov.in.
  2. Appear in person on your scheduled walk-in interview date before the Convener, Selection Committee.
  3. Submit the filled-in Application Form along with self-attested photocopies of all required documents and a passport-size color photograph.
  4. Carry all original documents for verification and the fee payment receipt (Rs. 500 deposited via SBI Collect).
  5. If selected, report before the authority of the allotted institution within seven days of the engagement order, or as instructed in the order.

All communication regarding this recruitment is made only through the DMET Odisha website — no postal or personal communication will be sent.
