Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Girinagar, Pune, is a Deemed University functioning under the Department of Defence Research & Development, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Its Department of Electronics Engineering has opened 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a DRDO-sponsored research project titled "Development of Wideband Antenna Array Networks Operating at 35-40 GHz & 18-40 GHz for ESM Application." Selected Fellows are also encouraged to register for a Ph.D. at DIAT through the proper channel, which makes this a strong entry point into a research career in defence electronics. If you enjoy working on RF, microwave and antenna systems, this project gives you hands-on exposure to advanced simulation and measurement tools used in national defence research, alongside experienced scientists at one of India's premier defence research institutes.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. in Electronics or Physics (or an equivalent degree), First Division, along with NET or GATE. Candidates with an M.E./M.Tech in Electronics or Physics with First Division at both Graduate and Post-Graduate level can also apply.
• Desirable Skills: Project experience in RF & microwave circuits and antennas, good analytical skills, and proficiency in simulation software such as MATLAB, CST and HFSS.
• Desirable Knowledge: Familiarity with RF & microwave measurement equipment, including the Vector Network Analyser (VNA) and Spectrum Analyzer (SA), for characterization, testing and troubleshooting of RF/microwave circuits.
• Language: You must be fluent in both written and spoken English.

Keep in mind that the prescribed qualifications are the bare minimum — simply meeting them does not automatically entitle you to be considered at every stage of the selection process. Your qualification and experience must come from recognized universities, institutions or industries.

Age Limit

• You should not be more than 28 years old as on 21 August 2026, the crucial date for determining the upper age limit.
• Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST, Women and PwBD candidates; up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

Salary

• You will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000 plus 30% HRA.
• Medical facilities limited to MI Room access are also provided.
• This is a purely temporary position for 12 months, or co-terminus with the project, whichever comes earlier.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

DIAT does not conduct a written test for this position. Selection happens in a single stage:

1. Interview: Based on your suitability for the project, you may be called for an interview, held either in-person or via video conferencing, depending on what is suitable to DIAT. Shortlisted candidates will be informed individually by email. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Note: DIAT may restrict the number of candidates called for interview based on the recommendation of the Screening Committee, especially if a large number of applications are received.
