DGFT Panipat Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), an attached office of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is engaging Young Professionals at its regional office in Panipat, Haryana. DGFT writes and runs India's Foreign Trade Policy and issues export authorisations through a network of 24 regional offices, and the Panipat office wants fresh talent to help with policy work and with the schemes it handles for local exporters.

This is a contract engagement, not a regular government post. You join on a one-year term that can be stretched to a maximum of three years if your work is good. The office also notes that the number of openings may go up or down before selection.

Posts and Disciplines

The Young Professional role is open across four disciplines. Pick the one that matches your degree; all of them work on the same Foreign Trade Policy tasks at the Panipat office:

• Economics: for postgraduates in Economics.
• Management: for MBA (Master's in Business Administration) holders.
• Engineering: for B.Tech, BE or MCA graduates.
• Legal: for postgraduates in Law.

Candidates with experience in foreign trade, public policy or management, and those comfortable with MS Word, Excel and data analytics, get preference.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Status: You will not be treated as a staff member or an official of DGFT. Working here gives you no claim to a later job with DGFT or any other government department.
• Fixed pay only: The monthly amount is a lump-sum fee, released after your controlling officer certifies your work. No other allowance or facility comes with it, apart from TA/DA on official tours.
• Travel: You may have to travel anywhere in India on official tours.
• Working hours: Normally 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM with a half-hour lunch break. You may be asked to stay late or come in on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when work demands it.
• Leave: You earn 1.5 days of leave for every completed month, with prior written approval. Unused leave does not carry forward, and up to one month of unpaid leave may be allowed. Women Young Professionals can get maternity leave under the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017.
• Notice period: Either side can end the engagement with 30 days' notice, or pay in lieu of notice.
• Before joining: You must submit a police verification report from your local police station and a medical-cum-fitness certificate from an authorised medical practitioner.
• Agreements: On the joining day you sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and a Non-compete Agreement, including a cooling-off period, on a Rs. 10 stamp paper.
• Confidentiality: The Official Secrets Act, 1923 applies to you. You cannot use the DGFT name, emblem or seal for any personal or business purpose without written permission.
• No compensation: Neither you nor your family can claim compensation or a job if you die, get injured or fall ill while working at DGFT.
• Termination: The engagement ends at once if any document you submit turns out to be false, or if your work or conduct is unsatisfactory.

You can also, or instead, post a hard copy to Office of Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, BSNL CSC Building, Near Police Station, G.T. Road, Panipat - 132103. Incomplete or late applications are rejected. If you are shortlisted, the office tells you by email about the written test or interview, and it does not accept requests to change that date or time.
