About This Job

The Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence, has released a vacancy circular for 1 Deputy Planning Officer (International Co-operation & Export-II) post in the Directorate of Planning and Coordination. Department of Defence Production (DDP) Dy Planning Officer (ICE-II) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Department of Defence Production (DDP) under the Ministry of Defence is responsible for overseeing India's defence manufacturing ecosystem, including Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and Ordnance Factories. The Directorate of Planning and Coordination within DDP handles strategic planning for defence exports and international cooperation. This is a senior-level deputation role where the selected officer will work on international defence cooperation and export promotion from the Government of India's perspective. Serving military officers at the Lt Col/Cdr/Wg Cdr rank or equivalent civilian officers at the Deputy Secretary or Joint Director level are eligible to apply.

Who Can Apply?

From Indian Armed Forces:

  • Serving officers holding the substantive rank of Lt Col (Army), Commander (Navy), or Wing Commander (Air Force)

From All India Services / Civilian Cadre:

  • Officers holding the regular post of Deputy Secretary or Joint Director or their equivalent counterpart in Central Government, Group A services

From IOFS/DRDO/DPSUs:

  • Officers holding analogous posts in the Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), or Defence PSUs

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Well conversant with international trade, security pacts and agreements, and international export scenario
  • Technical Staff Course or Defence Services Staff College (DSC) qualification is desirable
  • Overall performance must be well above average and the officer should not have been permanently superseded for promotion

You must have a residual service of at least 4 years from the date of issue of this vacancy circular (16 February 2026).

Salary

  • The post is in Pay Level 12/12A as per the 7th Central Pay Commission for Service Officers.
  • Level 12 pay range: Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month
  • Service Officers on deputation will continue to draw their pay and allowances from respective Controller of Defence Accounts (CDAs).
  • You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per existing Central Government rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. Selection is based on:

  1. ACR/APAR Review: Authenticated copies of your last 5 years' Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) or Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) will be evaluated.
  2. Administrative Authority Recommendation: Your application must be forwarded through your administrative authority with a recommendation.
  3. Document Verification: Integrity certificate, no-vigilance-case certificate, and penalty statement for the last 10 years will be checked.

Deputation period: The deputation will be for a maximum of 4 years, which may be extended in public interest.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate high-level interaction between Defence Production units and foreign governments to strengthen international defence cooperation
  • Administer and manage security-related international pacts, agreements, and guidelines pertaining to defence matters
  • Represent the Government of India's official position from the Department of Defence Production perspective on bilateral defence engagements and cooperation
  • Drive initiatives for international cooperation within the defence industry sector
  • Identify strategic thrust areas for defence exports and work to resolve bottlenecks in the promotion of defence sector items
  • Oversee and monitor the progress of defence export activities and promotional campaigns across defence production units

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Serving Armed Forces officer (Lt Col/Cdr/Wg Cdr) or AIS/Group A officer at Deputy Secretary/Joint Director level or equivalent in IOFS/DRDO/DPSUs

Preferred Qualification

Technical Staff Course/DSC qualification; well conversant with international trade, security pacts/agreements, and international export scenario

Required Skills

International trade and defence cooperation knowledge, security pacts management, bilateral engagement coordination

Level 12/12A (7th CPC for Service Officers): Rs. 78,800 - Rs. 2,09,200

Allowances
