CSIR-NIScPR Project Staff Recruitment 2026 - 40 Posts

CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi — a national research institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology — has released Advt No. NIScPR/OLP/IV/2026-R&A for engagement of 40 Project Staff across 19 research projects. The projects cover topics including quantum technologies, science policy, circular economy, vaccine policy, patent analytics, science communication, AI/ML, environment, and water resources. These are contract positions up to 31 March 2027 (co-terminus with the respective project). No permanent employment is offered.

Note: Higher pay (Rs. 31,000 for PAT-I; Rs. 35,000 for PAT-II) is applicable to candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship, or GATE, or National Level Examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent agencies.

Who Can Apply?

Project Associate-I (PAT-I) — Rs. 25,000/31,000 + HRA

• MSc in Natural Sciences (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics) or BE/BTech — for most science/technology projects
• Masters/Integrated Masters in Natural, Agricultural, or Pharmaceutical Sciences, MVSc/Animal Sciences, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine — for some projects
• MCA/BE/BTech in IT/Computer Science/AI — for patent quality analysis project (Project 18)
• No experience required for PAT-I in most projects

Project Associate-II (PAT-II) — Rs. 28,000/35,000 + HRA

• Masters/Integrated Masters in Natural/Agricultural/Pharmaceutical Sciences, MVSc/Animal Sciences OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine from a recognised university
• Plus 2 years of R&D experience in industrial/academic institutions or S&T organisations
• OR Masters/Integrated Masters in Engineering or Technology from a recognised university (no separate experience needed)
• For specific projects: MSc in Natural/Life Sciences (Botany) or Agricultural Science + 2 years R&D experience

Senior Project Associate (SPA) — Rs. 42,000 + HRA

• Masters in Natural/Agricultural Sciences, MVSc, or Bachelor's in Engineering/Technology/Medicine
• Plus 3 years of R&D experience in industrial/academic institutions or S&T organisations
• OR Masters/Integrated Masters in Engineering/Technology or Doctoral Degree in Science/Engineering/Pharma/MD/MS

Principal Project Associate (Principal PAT) — Rs. 49,000 + HRA

• Masters in Natural/Agricultural Sciences, MVSc, or Bachelor's in Engineering/Technology/Medicine
• Plus 6 years of R&D experience
• OR Doctoral Degree + 3 years of R&D experience

Project Scientist-II (PS-II) — Rs. 67,000 + HRA

• Doctoral Degree in Science OR Masters/Integrated Masters in Engineering/Technology/Medicines
• Plus 5 years of R&D experience in industrial/academic institutions or S&T organisations

Project Assistant-II (PA-II) — Rs. 20,000 + HRA

• B.Sc. or 3-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology

Age Limit

• PAT-I and PAT-II and PA-II: Maximum 35 years as on the date of walk-in interview
• SPA, Principal PAT, and PS-II: Maximum 40 years as on the date of walk-in interview
• Age Relaxation: As per government rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen and other categories
• Age is reckoned as on the date of the walk-in interview (14 May 2026)

Salary

• Project Assistant-II (PA-II): Rs. 20,000 + HRA per month
• Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Rs. 25,000 + HRA per month (Rs. 31,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualified)
• Project Associate-II (PAT-II): Rs. 28,000 + HRA per month (Rs. 35,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualified)
• Senior Project Associate (SPA): Rs. 42,000 + HRA per month
• Principal Project Associate: Rs. 49,000 + HRA per month
• Project Scientist-II (PS-II): Rs. 67,000 + HRA per month
• HRA is admissible as per the applicable rules of the sponsoring agency

Selection Process

Selection is based on the following (no written exam in most projects):

1. Academic Records: Evaluation of your educational qualifications, relevant experience, and research/publication record
2. Test (if applicable): A written/skill test may be conducted for shortlisting candidates before the interview
3. Interview: Walk-in interview on 14 May 2026 at Vivekananda Hall, CSIR-NIScPR, New Delhi. You must report between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM (no entry after 11:00 AM)
