Who Can Apply?
Project Assistant-II (PA-II) - Rs. 20,000/month:
- Diploma in Engineering/Technology (EEE/ECE/EIE) of 3 years full-time duration, OR B.Sc in Physics, Geology, Chemistry or Computers
Project Associate-I (PAT-I) - Rs. 25,000-31,000/month:
- M.Sc / M.Sc.(Tech) / M.Tech / M.S. / Integrated M.Tech in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Marine Geophysics, Exploration Geophysics, Geophysical Technology, Geosciences or Earth Sciences (for most posts)
- For the Oil India well-sample project: M.Sc / M.Tech in Geology, Applied Geology or Earth Sciences
- You get the higher pay of Rs. 31,000 if you have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET, GATE, or an equivalent national-level exam
Project Associate-II (PAT-II) - Rs. 28,000-35,000/month:
- M.Sc / M.Tech / M.S. / Integrated M.Tech in Geophysics or a related earth science discipline; some posts also need 2 years of relevant experience
- You get the higher pay of Rs. 35,000 if you have qualified NET/GATE or an equivalent national exam
Principal Project Associate - Rs. 49,000/month:
- M.Sc / M.Tech in Geology, Applied Geology or Earth Sciences with 6 years of relevant research/laboratory experience
Project Scientist-III (PS-III) - Rs. 78,000/month:
- Ph.D in Geology, Applied Geology, Earth Sciences or Physical Sciences with 7 years of experience in sedimentary provenance analysis and geochemical data interpretation
Age Limit
- PA-II, PAT-I and PAT-II posts: up to 35 years
- Principal Project Associate: up to 40 years
- Project Scientist-III: up to 45 years
- Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates
Salary
- Pay ranges from Rs. 20,000 per month (PA-II) to Rs. 78,000 per month (Project Scientist-III), plus HRA on every post
- These are consolidated, fixed monthly payments for project-based engagements, not regular pay scales
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is done in 2 stages:
- Document Verification: Bring original certificates, self-attested photocopies, a filled application form, your CV and a passport-size photo to the interview venue.
- Walk-in Interview: Reporting time is 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM — you will not be allowed to enter after 10:00 AM.
Final selection is based purely on your interview performance and document check — there is no written test. Final-year/semester students awaiting results cannot attend.

Responsibilities
- Conduct field data collection for seismic, gravity, magnetic and geophysical surveys
- Process and analyze geophysical, geological and geochemical data
- Maintain and calibrate seismological monitoring equipment
- Prepare core and rock samples for physical and mechanical property analysis
- Assist senior scientists during fieldwork, data interpretation and report preparation
- Coordinate with project teams across different CSIR-NGRI field sites
- Document project progress and maintain accurate technical records
- Support laboratory sample preparation for geochemical and geological studies
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Diploma in Engineering/Technology (PA-II) up to Ph.D in Geology/Geophysics/Earth Sciences (PS-III), depending on post
Preferred Qualification
CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET, GATE, or equivalent national-level qualifying exam for higher pay in PAT-I/PAT-II posts
