About This Job

ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research (ICAR-IIMR) is hiring 1 Young Professional-II for a millet-production project on a purely contractual basis. You need a master's degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding or a related agricultural or plant science. Apply by email before 5:00 PM on 22 August 2026. The fixed salary is Rs. 35,000 per month, and the age range is 21 to 45 years.
ICAR-IIMR Young Professional II Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
The position supports a project focused on scaling up millet production and strengthening the millet value chain for food and nutrition security in Odisha. The work covers improved cultivars and landraces, crop diversification, quality grain and fodder seed, capacity building, field trials and research reporting. The appointment runs up to 31 March 2027 and may continue if the candidate performs well and project funding remains available.
This is a temporary project engagement, not a regular ICAR-IIMR appointment. The Institute will first review emailed applications, shortlist suitable applicants and then hold the interview online through Zoom. If you enjoy field research, crop experiments and practical data analysis, this role brings those areas together in one millet-focused assignment.
Project and Work Profile
The project aims to improve millet production, crop diversity, seed access, capacity building and value-chain support. In day-to-day work, the Young Professional-II will coordinate multi-location experiments, record field observations, analyse trial data and report the results. The notice also includes DNA isolation and molecular analysis in millets as part of the job profile.
Who Can Apply?
- Essential qualification: Master's degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding or a related agricultural or plant science from a recognised university.
- Field experience: Experience with millet or related field crops is desirable.
- Research work: Trial conduct, field-data recording and statistical analysis of crop experiments are desirable.
- Laboratory work: Practical laboratory skills are desirable.
- Computer work: Computer use, typing and documentation skills are desirable.
- Communication: Good spoken and written communication skills are desirable.
Your master's degree is the mandatory academic condition. Certificates supporting both essential and desirable qualifications must accompany the form, so mention only experience and skills that you can prove with the required record.
The notice does not set a minimum number of experience years. This means the master's degree is the core requirement, while relevant field, trial, laboratory and data-analysis experience can strengthen your application during shortlisting.
Age Limit
- You should be between 21 and 45 years old as on 22 August 2026.
- SC / ST / OBC / PwD: Age relaxation applies according to Government rules.
Use your birth certificate or another accepted date-of-birth record to show that you meet the 21-45-year range on the closing date. If you claim a relaxation, keep the relevant category certificate ready for scrutiny.
Salary
- Monthly salary: Rs. 35,000, consolidated and fixed.
- Contract period: Up to 31 March 2027, with a possible extension based on performance and funding.
- Interview support: No TA or DA will be paid for attending the virtual interview.
The confirmed pay is Rs. 35,000 per month. The notification calls this a consolidated fixed amount and does not list a separate pay level, grade pay or allowance package.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
- Application screening: ICAR-IIMR will check the emailed form, certificates and supporting experience records.
- Shortlisting: Only applicants selected from the document review will receive the Zoom interview link by email.
- Virtual interview: Shortlisted applicants will attend the online interview on 25 August 2026.
- Original-document check: A selected applicant must show original certificates and supporting records before joining.
There is no written examination in the notice. Keep a computer with reliable internet and the Zoom app ready because the interview is online. ICAR-IIMR will email shortlisted applicants if the interview date changes.
