CSIR NEERI Project Associate II Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) is engaging a Project Associate II at its Nagpur laboratory for the FIR050405 research project. The project studies bacteriophages found in the Ganga and tests how effectively they can reduce priority pathogens in wastewater. This is hands-on environmental biotechnology work, bringing together microbial research, genomic analysis, field sampling and wastewater applications.

CSIR-NEERI is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology. The assignment is designed for a researcher who can move between laboratory assays, genomic data and field samples. Experience with bacteriophage culture is preferred because it connects directly with the project's central research question.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project-linked tenure: The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. It does not create a right to regular appointment in CSIR or CSIR-NEERI.
• Funding and extension: The initial offer will cover only the period for which project funds are available. Any extension depends on project need, available funds, your performance and conduct.
• Experience calculation: Required experience is counted only after you acquire the minimum educational qualification. Dissertation or thesis work completed during your academic programme does not count.
• Completed results: Your essential qualification result must already be declared, and you should have at least a provisional certificate. Final-semester and result-awaited candidates cannot be considered.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the basic qualification does not guarantee an interview call. If applications are numerous, the screening committee may use additional criteria to prepare the shortlist.
• Joining checks: Selected candidates must finish pre-appointment formalities such as medical examination and character verification, then join within the period stated in the offer letter.
• Confidentiality: You must sign an undertaking protecting the project's findings and any connected intellectual-property information.
• Accommodation: Project staff must arrange their own accommodation in Nagpur. HRA is available under the applicable project rules.
• Notice period: Either side may end the engagement with one month's notice. If you leave without serving that period, one month's pay may be required in lieu, subject to the competent authority's discretion.
• Project movement: Moving from another CSIR project depends on acceptance of your earlier resignation. There is no automatic upgrade within the same or a new project; you must apply afresh.
• Maximum project service: Your cumulative contractual project service across CSIR laboratories remains subject to the limits in the applicable CSIR project-personnel rules.
• Institutional discretion: CSIR-NEERI may cancel or withdraw an offer if it finds a discrepancy in your candidature at any stage.
