CSIR-NCL Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune, is filling a Project Associate-I position in its Biochemical Sciences Division. The post is attached to the Phenome India-CSIR Health Cohort Knowledgebase project (project code HCP47), a CSIR study that builds a health database from a large group of Indian participants. This is a temporary project engagement, not a regular CSIR job.

The work is lab-based and sample-driven: you will deal with clinical samples and the protein and metabolite data that come out of them. That makes it a good fit if you have a background in the life, agricultural or pharmaceutical sciences, or an engineering or medical degree, and want hands-on proteomics and metabolomics experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Two pay levels: Your monthly pay depends on whether you have cleared a national-level test. Candidates with CSIR-UGC, ICAR or ICMR NET (including lectureship or assistant professorship), GATE, or a national exam run by central departments such as DBT or DST get the higher rate; everyone else gets the lower rate.
• Tenure: The engagement lasts only as long as the sponsored project, and continuing depends on satisfactory performance and conduct.
• No claim to a CSIR post: This is not a CSIR/NCL appointment, temporary or otherwise, and it gives you no right to be considered for any CSIR-NCL post or fellowship later.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview. A Screening Committee can limit interview calls based on qualifications and experience beyond the minimum, so mention any work with clinical samples, proteomics or metabolomics clearly.
• Online interview: Shortlisted candidates get the interview link by email; no separate call letter is issued.
• Joining and travel: The selected candidate must join immediately after the offer, and no TA/DA is paid for the interview.
