CSIR-CSMCRI Project JRF Recruitment 2026 — 1 Post

CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, Gujarat, has invited applications for 1 Project Junior Research Fellow (JRF) post under the ANRF Advanced Research Grant (ARG) project. The project, led by Dr. Mrinmoy Mondal (Senior Scientist), focuses on fabrication of novel hollow fiber and cross-flow membrane modules with real-time fouling mitigation for high-throughput applications. Selected candidates can pursue a Ph.D. through the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) affiliated with CSIR. This is a purely temporary position co-terminus with the project.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• You must have a B.Tech or B.E. in Chemical Engineering from a recognised university.
• You must have qualified through one of the following national-level processes:
  • CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE
  • Selection through national-level examinations conducted by central government departments and agencies such as DST, DBT, DOS, DRDO, DAE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in polymeric membrane synthesis and characterization is preferred.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 28 years as on 24 April 2026 (last date of receipt of applications).
• Age Relaxation: Applicable as per CSIR rules (typically SC/ST get 5 years, OBC gets 3 years).

Stipend

• Monthly stipend: Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA
• Applicable to scholars selected through NET/GATE or national-level examinations as per ANRF guidelines.
• HRA is paid as per the prevailing rules applicable at the place of posting.

Selection Process

1. Application Screening: All emailed applications will be screened based on eligibility criteria.
2. Interview (Hybrid Mode): Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview in hybrid mode (online or walk-in as decided by the institute). Interview details will be communicated by email. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

• Work on polymeric membrane synthesis, including hollow fiber and cross-flow membrane modules
• Characterize membranes using relevant analytical and physical testing methods
• Develop and demonstrate processes related to the ANRF-funded membrane project
• Conduct experiments on real-time fouling mitigation assembly for charged foulants
• Maintain accurate lab records, data logs, and experimental reports
• Prepare technical reports and assist the Principal Investigator with project deliverables
• Follow safety protocols in the laboratory at all times
