CRRID Research Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Chandigarh, wants one Research Assistant for its Population Research Centre (PRC). The PRC is funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and works on population and health research. This post was earlier called Research Fellow-II, so if you have seen that title in old CRRID notices, it is the same role under a new name.

The opening suits you if you hold a postgraduate degree in a social science, statistics or public health subject and have spent at least a year working after your PG. Subjects such as Demography, Population Studies, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Geography and Public Health are all accepted, which makes this a good fit for early-career researchers from many backgrounds.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract job: The post is purely contractual. CRRID renews the contract at least once every year, based on how well you perform.
• No regular job promise: The PRC has no liability to regularise your service or offer you a regular appointment. Treat this as a project-type research post, not a permanent government job.
• Consolidated pay: The monthly amount is a consolidated figure, so do not expect separate allowances on top of it.
• Second class PG needed: Your postgraduate degree must be at least second class from a recognised institution or university.
• Experience relaxation: The one-year post-PG experience rule can be relaxed in deserving cases, so a strong candidate with slightly less experience may still be considered.
