ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) has issued F.No. 06/21-22/CMFRI-LD(TSP)/ dated 29 July 2026 for a walk-in interview to fill one Young Professional-I position under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) scheme. The role is based at the ICAR-CMFRI Field Laboratory, KVK-Lakshadweep Campus, Kavaratti, and the appointment is purely temporary, non-regular, and co-terminus with the project — it does not carry any claim to a future regular appointment at CMFRI. The Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) is a central government scheme aimed at the socio-economic development of Scheduled Tribe communities, and Lakshadweep, where almost the entire population is tribal, is a key focus area for this scheme. Working here means contributing to marine research and aquaculture development that directly benefits the local island community.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: B.F.Sc/B.Sc in aquaculture or any other equivalent branch of biological science
• Desirable: Experience in marine fisheries, seaweed farming, or aquaculture will be preferred
• Desirable: Being skilled in swimming will be given preference

Since this role is based on Kavaratti island in Lakshadweep, it suits candidates who are comfortable working in a remote coastal/island setting and interacting closely with local fishing and tribal communities as part of field research and extension work.

Age Limit

• You should be between 21 and 45 years old, counted as on the date of the interview.

Salary

• You will get a fixed monthly emolument of Rs. 30,000 for this position.
• This is a consolidated fellowship amount for the project duration and does not follow a regular government pay-scale structure.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. Selection happens directly through the walk-in interview:

1. Walk-in Interview: Held at the ICAR-CMFRI Field Laboratory, Kavaratti on 18 August 2026 at 10:30 AM.
2. Document Verification: You must bring your original certificates, proof of age, and caste certificate (if applicable) for verification — without these, you will not be allowed to appear for the interview.

Note: The total number of vacancies may vary depending on other project requirements on the date of interview. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, and the competent authority can terminate the appointment without assigning any reason. If any of your near or distant relatives already work at ICAR-CMFRI, you must declare this in writing before the interview using the prescribed Annexure. Concealing facts or canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification or termination.
