ChPA Inquiry Officers Empanelment 2026

Chennai Port Authority (ChPA) is inviting applications from retired officers for empanelment as Inquiry Officers to conduct departmental inquiries. If you are a retired officer of a Major Port, Central Government, Central Autonomous Body, or Central PSU at the Deputy HOD level or above, you can apply offline. The last date to apply is 8 September 2026. You should not be more than 70 years old on the date the empanelment circular is published.

Chennai Port Authority's General Administration Department (File No. A2/561/2026/GA) is building a panel of retired senior officers to act as Inquiry Officers for its departmental disciplinary inquiries. This is not a regular job — once empanelled, you are called upon as and when an inquiry needs to be conducted. Retired Deputy HODs and HODs of Major Ports, and equivalent-level retired officers from the Central Government, Central PSUs, and Central Autonomous Bodies, can apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligible Category: Retired officers of Major Ports, Central Government, Central Autonomous Bodies, or Central PSUs, preferably at the level of retired Deputy HOD and above.
• Pay Level at Retirement: If you retired from a CPSE/PSU, your pay band should have been Rs. 1,20,000 - Rs. 2,80,000 (E8 level) or above. If you retired from the Central Government, your pay band should have been Rs. 78,800 - Rs. 2,09,000 (Level 12) or above. If you retired from a Major Port, you should have held a Deputy HOD or HOD position.
• Health: You must be in sound physical and mental health.
• Your family should not currently be employed with Chennai Port Authority, and you should not have faced disciplinary proceedings in the 10 years before your retirement.

Age Limit

• You should not be more than 70 years old on the first day of the month in which the empanelment circular or advertisement is published.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

1. Application Screening: Chennai Port Authority reviews your eligibility, service record, and rank at retirement.
2. Empanelment: Shortlisted retired officers are added to the panel of Inquiry Officers and called upon to conduct inquiries as required.

How to Apply

1. Download the application format from the Chennai Port Authority website at chennaiport.gov.in.
2. Fill in your name, date of birth, present age, and date of retirement from government service.
3. Mention your last post held, last pay drawn, and details of the ministries and posts held during your service.
4. Provide your address and contact details, and declare whether you have previously served as an Inquiry Officer, whether you retired on superannuation or VRS/SVRS, and whether any penalty was imposed during your service.
5. Sign the declaration confirming that all the information you have given is true and correct, with no facts suppressed.
6. Send the filled application to the General Administration Department, Chennai Port Authority, before 8 September 2026.
