CGCRI Project Assistant II Recruitment 2026: Overview
CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), part of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, is recruiting a Project Assistant-II for an optical-fiber project at its Kolkata campus. The project, SSP0163, is sponsored by HFCL Ltd. and focuses on developing a patentable fabrication process for its proprietary silica-based nested antiresonant nodeless fiber. This is a project-based engagement linked to next-generation optical communication networks.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: The initial engagement is for 1 year. It may continue up to 29 January 2028, depending on available funds, so you should not treat the later date as an assured extension.
- Institute discretion: CGCRI may leave the position unfilled or change the number of positions according to its needs. The institute will take the final decision on this matter.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
B.Sc. in Physics or a 3-year diploma in Engineering/Technology in Electronics, Mechanical or Electrical, with at least 60% marks/GPA. Applicants awaiting results cannot apply.
Preferred Qualification
Experience in electronics, machine handling, glass handling or electrical work; basic computer and CAD software proficiency; laboratory skills in optics, fiber optics or optomechanics.
Age Limit
Up to 35 years (as on 03 Nov 2026)
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST/PwD/Female: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years

Salary & Compensation
Pay Scale
