CDSCO Junior Scientific Officer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) is India's national drug regulator and works under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It has released advertisement number Admin-18011(11)/21/2026-eoffice (dated 29 June 2026) to fill one Junior Scientific Officer post at its Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory in Chandigarh. Regional Drugs Testing Laboratories check the quality, purity and safety of medicines, so this is a technical, lab-based scientific role. The post is open only on deputation basis, which means you must already be a serving officer in a government department or an approved organisation, not a fresh graduate.

Who Can Apply?

This post is open to officers of the Central Government, State Government, Union Territory administrations, autonomous or statutory bodies, public sector undertakings, recognised universities or recognised research institutions. You must meet both the service condition and the qualification condition below.

Service Condition (any one)

• You hold an analogous post on a regular basis in your parent cadre or department; OR
• You have 2 years of regular service in Pay Level 7 (Rs. 44,900 - 1,42,400) or an equivalent grade in your parent cadre or department.

Essential Qualification and Experience

• Education: Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Medicine, Microbiology or Biotechnology from a recognised university or institute.
• Experience: 4 years of experience in drugs testing, standardisation and research.

Desirable Qualification

• A Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Medicine, Microbiology or Biotechnology.

Note: The qualification and experience rules can be relaxed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in deserving cases, as stated in the notification.

Age Limit

• The notification does not mention a separate age limit for this post.
• For posts filled on deputation, the upper age limit is generally 56 years as on the closing date, as per standard DoPT rules. Please confirm from the official notification.

Salary

• You will be paid in Pay Level 8 of the 7th CPC — Rs. 47,600 to Rs. 1,51,100 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
• Pay and other deputation terms follow DoPT O.M. dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. Because it is a deputation post, selection is handled by a Selection Committee that studies your record:

1. Eligibility and Document Check: Your application, educational qualification, experience and clearances are checked against the rules for the post.
2. Selection Committee Assessment: The committee assesses your Bio-Data, essential qualification and work experience. Officers who clear this stage may be called for an interaction before the final decision.

Your application must be sent through proper channel along with Cadre Clearance, Vigilance Clearance and an Integrity Certificate. Qualifications and experience can be relaxed by the UPSC in special cases.
