Bharathiar University Senior Project Associate and Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

Bharathiar University, a State University accredited with an A++ grade (3.63 CGPA) by NAAC and ranked 15th among Indian universities by the Ministry of Education's NIRF, has released a notice for 3 posts under a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) sponsored project titled "Development of Novel Antidote(s) For Highly Toxic Organophosphorous Compounds" (sanction order DFTM/16/3186/DIA-CoE-BU/ETM/04/M/01 dated 05.03.2026). The project runs under the DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) scheme in the Department of Bioinformatics, headed by Prof. N. Jeyakumar as Principal Investigator, and each post is initially for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years. No written exam is required — selection is based on your CV and an interview. If you are a fresh postgraduate or a Ph.D. holder in life sciences, this is a good opportunity to gain research experience on a defence-funded project at a NAAC A++ accredited university.

Vacancy Details

Of the two Project Assistant posts, one is reserved for Bioinformatics/Computer Science background and one for Biochemistry/Life Sciences background, so choose the post that matches your degree specialisation.

Who Can Apply?

For Senior Project Associate (Rs. 42,000 + HRA per month):

• Qualification: You need a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology.
• Preferred: Experience in Molecular Modelling or Docking Studies is an advantage.

For Project Assistant (Rs. 20,000 + HRA per month):

• Qualification: You need an M.Sc./M.Phil in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biochemistry or Life Sciences (one post is reserved for each specialisation).
• Preferred: Candidates with NET/SET/GATE qualifications, and experience in Molecular Docking or Animal Tissue Culture techniques, will be preferred.

Since this is a research project role, you should be comfortable with independent literature research and lab work in addition to your academic qualification.

Salary

• The Senior Project Associate gets a fellowship of Rs. 42,000 per month plus 20% HRA.
• The Project Assistant gets a fellowship of Rs. 20,000 per month plus 20% HRA.
• Both posts are initially for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years based on your performance and project requirements.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test for these posts. Your selection happens in the following stages:
