Assam University, Silchar (AUS) has released Advertisement No. 1/2026 to hire one Project Technical Assistant for the DST-SEED sponsored project titled "Empowerment of Scheduled Caste Community through Innovative Herbal Technologies in Borjalenga Block of Cachar District, Assam." The post is based in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sushruta School of Medical and Paramedical Sciences. This is a purely temporary, contractual position that will run co-terminus with the project — a good opportunity for M.Pharm graduates who want hands-on research experience in agro-biopharmaceutical formulation and rural community development work.

The project is sponsored under the DST-SEED scheme — Science for Equity, Empowerment and Development — run by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. SEED-funded projects are designed to take science and technology interventions directly to disadvantaged communities in rural and remote areas, so this role goes beyond typical lab work: you will help translate pharmaceutical research on herbal formulations into real benefits for Scheduled Caste families in Borjalenga Block, Cachar district. The project is led by Dr. Partha Palit as Principal Investigator, and you will be based in Silchar, Assam (PIN 788011), working closely with the project team.

As a Field Assistant on this project, expect to split your time between the laboratory and the field — supporting formulation work at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and coordinating with tribal farmer households as part of the project's on-ground activities.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Pharm or M.S.(Pharm) in any specialization from a recognized university or institution
• Preferred Experience: Experience in Agro-Biopharmaceutical formulation development, characterization, and application in the agriculture field for industrial scale-up
• If you have worked on formulating herbal or plant-based pharmaceutical products, tested their stability and characteristics, or helped scale up a formulation from lab bench to field-ready product, that experience will work in your favor.
• Age Limit: As per Government norms — no specific age limit is prescribed in the notification

Salary

• You will get a monthly fellowship of Rs. 20,000 plus a 10% additional allowance as per DST sanction terms.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection will be done through:

1. Document Screening: Your biodata and supporting documents will be reviewed. If more than 6 eligible applications are received, only the top 6 will be shortlisted based on desirable qualifications, marksheets, publications, and patents.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed online or offline. If it's an online interview, the meeting link will be shared directly with you.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Your service terms and conditions, once selected, will follow the DST sanction letter issued for this project. You will need to join duty immediately after receiving your offer, subject to verification of your original marksheets, certificates, and other supporting documents.
